The dynasty ruling the Central Plains is headed by the Jiang family, yet the crown prince who has long resided in the Eastern Palace bears the surname Ning.
The realm should have belonged to the Ning family. Chancellor Jiang Han murdered the emperor and seized the throne, then took the imperial concubines by force. Yet he alone spared the former crown prince, Ning Moxian. Not only did he refuse to kill him, he also housed him in the Eastern Palace and sought doctors and medicine for his congenital illness.
But Ning Moxian never appreciated it. Even after Jiang Han took the throne and let him live as crown prince, he absolutely refused to call Jiang Han Father. He spent his days smashing medicine bowls and never left the Eastern Palace, letting his health steadily deteriorate.
Two years later, the Qinglang tribe from east of the Central Plains arrived to pay tribute. As King Yuwen Zhen exchanged tokens with Jiang Han to mark the establishment of diplomatic relations, Ning Moxian, who had always stayed behind closed doors, came despite his illness. He knelt and begged Jiang Han to let him go to the Qinglang tribe as a political bride, to marry Yuwen Zhen.
Yuwen Zhen stopped what he was doing and looked at the beautiful man kneeling on the ground. In halting Chinese, he asked Ning Moxian, "Are you saying you want to marry me and be my wife?"
Ning Moxian lowered his head. "Yes."
Yuwen Zhen was tall and powerfully built, with thick brows and bright eyes. He cupped his hands in salute, his presence as forceful as a gust of wind. Facing Jiang Han, he spoke with a clear note of threat in his eyes: "Then I hope Your Majesty will grant us this marriage."
Three days later, dressed in red, Ning Moxian left without bidding Jiang Han farewell or greeting the officials. Without once looking back, he climbed into Yuwen Zhen's carriage and left for the Qinglang tribe with him.
On the road, Ning Moxian suffered stomachaches and chest pains, and refused to let Yuwen Zhen touch him.
Yuwen Zhen wasn't annoyed. He only smiled and asked, "You don't like me?"
Ning Moxian shook his head. "I don't. I just wanted you to take me away from the palace."
Yuwen Zhen only smiled, saying nothing. His gaze held an indescribable affection and indulgence.
Three years later, Jiang Han marched east, intending to take back Crown Prince Ning Moxian. With his army at the border, Yuwen Zhen kissed Ning Moxian goodbye and led his troops to repel the enemy. Wearing the red wedding robes he had worn when he left to be married, Ning Moxian walked to Yuwen Zhen's side and leaned against him. Facing Jiang Han, whose face was full of shock, he spoke in the Qinglang language: "The wolf king is my man. If you want to kill him, you'll have to kill me first."
#The foreign wolf king is a good boy too!
Character setup: A beautiful, voluptuous, sickly little prince x a handsome, rich, virtuous, devoted tribal king. They marry first and fall in love later. The king is fifteen years older, and has a clean past: he will only ever love the prince.
Both are virgins. Historical fantasy romance between men, no children. A sweet story, though with a little angst.
As usual: steamy scenes. The prince is very ill, and the king pursues him, serving him hand and foot. If this is not for you, please avoid.
