No Ordinary Cat

Mo Yan is extremely fond of small animals, but animals seem to dislike him just as much. It is starting to look as though he has a special skill called "Animal Repulsion Aura." It activates by default and cannot be switched off. While it is active, no animal will come within ten meters of him. For someone so unpopular with small animals, he recently received one piece of good news and one piece of bad news. The good news was that he seemed to have been accosted by a cat that looked like a little white dumpling. The bad news was that his only junior disciple was still unconscious, and no healer could wake him. Mo Yan was delighted at the thought of squeezing the white dumpling's paw pads, but worried that his junior disciple still hadn't woken up. Some time later, Mo Yan got another piece of good news and one piece of bad news in a single day. The good news was that his junior disciple had finally woken up. The bad news was that the cat wasn't real! The cat was fake! The cat was his junior disciple! So had he really touched the cat? He sure had. Ah, never mind. As long as his junior disciple was safe and sound, that was all that mattered. As the Sword Chief's first disciple, and with an enemy kill count on the battlefield that no one could ignore, Mo Yan drew plenty of attention. "He's even colder than his master." "I was in the same unit as him on the battlefield last time. I swear he said fewer than twenty words all week." "In that Yunqi Army exam he took, everyone else who was standing on the field..." The little white dumpling meowed twice in protest. The rumors were all wrong. Senior Brother Mo wasn't anything like what you said! Theme: Look beyond appearances to see the truth
