Synopsis

When Chi Qing closed the gaming pod, he was thrilled. After logging in, he was utterly confused.

System: Hello. A program error has occurred in Detective Conan. A repair technician has logged in. The fifth run is about to begin. Please do not reveal your identity, or the repair will fail.

DETECTIVE CONAN: THE EVER-BRIGHT GLIMMER: START

A test subject from the start, subjected to brainwashing and a hair-burning machine. But after Chi Qing escaped the lab, he discovered this might be a game called Chi Qing's World Tour:

[The deadly battlefield of Tokyo beneath the night sky]

[The cold flames after the Oslo shootout]

[Paris is burning inside a maze]

As gunfire engulfed the world, no one could escape.

"Why destroy the organization?"

"Because someone wants it that way. Because they want to be saved." Because

"I was awful in the past. I wasn't a very good person, and I can't say for certain that the person I was deserved to be saved... But once, I really did want someone to come and save me."

*The secret identities are protagonists from different worldlines, with differing allegiances. You can think of this as a pseudo-ensemble cast.

*Rescue comes at a cost. Changes to the worldlines merely replace death with other misfortunes. There is brainwashing (which will be reversed).

*Lots of original plot and original settings, with genuine villains added to balance the good and evil sides. But the good guys are still good, and the bad guys are still bad.

Theme: People can always save themselves while saving others.

Finished or Interested (Recommended or Not)

A mixed bag of crossovers with the DC and Marvel universes, Detective Conan fanfiction, original BL, no-romance stories, and Harry Potter. This list is really just a record of what I've read (?) so I wrote these descriptions however I pleased.

Crossover Anime and Manga

Note: These are all fanworks, both based on individual series and crossovers. This is very subjective, and Detective Conan fanfiction makes up a large portion. I've been a little obsessed lately. Male protagonists with no romance, and stories focused on the bottom.

Free Long-Form Fanfiction Recommendations

Free to read, updated irregularly, at least 200,000 words each, all complete. Check for potential issues yourself.

MiHoYo / Detective Conan / Jujutsu Kaisen / Katekyo Hitman Reborn! / Prince of Tennis

Also includes fanfic for some niche anime, games, and novels, plus crossovers. A big mixed bag for omnivorous readers, with both older works and short stories. All completed; I read through them for my own reference.

Recommend Novels You’ve Read

Some complaints (P.S. Why can I only add books to my list if they’re in my favorites? Can’t it just use my subscription history?)

Detective Conan Fanfiction I've Read or Haven't Read (Free)

As the title says, all the Conan fanfiction here is free. Some couldn't get five stars, so four stars means five. They're all in my favorites; this is just a way to organize them.

Free Derivative Fiction I've Read

Mostly no-romance or BL. I rate pretty strictly, so I rarely give five stars. Most of these are still good, though there may not be many.

The Free Stories I Loved Most Over the Years

There is Detective Conan fan fiction, Harry Potter fan fiction, Doupo and Luo fan fiction, original fiction, and Daobi fan fiction. They're all decent. I gave most of them five stars, but Jinjiang won't let me rate them.

Detective Conan Fanfiction, Completed

Personal taste: I prefer fresh, interesting stories with sound logic or an exciting plot. I'm not very interested in romance. Sometimes a story just clicks with me and makes the protagonist feel alive.

Non-VIP Detective Conan Fanfiction Collection

Free Conan stories of decent length that are worth reading. Five stars: highly recommended. Four stars: pretty good. (Omnivorous, purely subjective recommendations. Watch out for abandoned stories.)

Made this list for a task, but I really do like these completed stories (13 books in 2024). Another task in 2025, so I'm adding a few more.

Detective Conan Fanfiction

I root for the good guys, and the protagonist's stance should be at least morally gray. Some ratings are based on the Silver Bullet group, characterization from the original work, and reader comments, though I read some of these so long ago that I don't remember them.

Detective Conan Fanfic Reading Archive

Mostly focused on the five-person group. I’m fine with rescue stories, but only if they save half the team. Graduate student in year two; I’m rooting for Jing. I lean toward angst, tragic romance, and melodrama, and I’m a huge fan of beautiful, strong characters with tragic fates. For my own records. Updated slowly as I read.

Kakashi Fanfiction

It's our Conan fanfiction, yes. There's some crossover fanfiction mixed in too, including danmei, no-couple, and romance stories, but not many focus on relationships. Most have no couples.

Free Novel Log

Free stories with completed main plots √ (though most are no-CP or BL, ahaha). Most of my reviews are emotional reactions from the moment I finished reading, so they’re not that objective.
