[Please add my new novel, My Mother-in-Law Is a Neighborhood Police Officer (1970s)]
This story:
Wu Xudong was abandoned in the countryside at the age of five and grew up like a prickly hedgehog, refusing to yield to anyone.
That is, until he met the woman fate had chosen for him.
Before he met Zhou Ziyan, Wu Xudong only wanted to be a man who could hold up the sky.
After meeting Zhou Ziyan, Wu Xudong realized that his wife was the bright, sunny sky, and he was the quiet earth beneath her feet.
She faced every storm head-on, dashing across the seas in her heroic uniform, while he taught their daughter and stayed by her side with gentle care.
It turned out there was more than one way to hold up the sky. A man who supports his wife and raises his daughter is every bit a real man.
At a class reunion, someone asked him, "Old Wu, you've made it all the way to CEO. How come we never see you bring your wife along? Don't tell me the big boss won't let you show her off?"
Wu Xudong grinned and downed his drink. "Show her off? Just wait until your big boss gets here. You'll regret saying that."
And so, that night, the game room that had always been ruled by men turned into this:
Pool: that woman sank the ball with a single shot.
Table tennis: the toughest player in the class begged her through tears to go easy.
Badminton: the big boss raced around the court with the force of an entire army.
Video games: one former gaming champ after another got knocked out by her.
When they couldn't find anything else to compete in, the classmates brought out a basket of yarn and tried to wriggle out of it: "Let's have a knitting contest."
Zhou Ziyan raised both hands in surrender. "I really can't do that, but your brother-in-law can."
The classmates protested: "The big boss is playing dirty!"
Wu Xudong smiled as he picked up the knitting needles. "Who said my wife was playing dirty? You never said family members couldn't help out."
The classmates were left green with envy and jealousy.
There is a lively group of men in the naval compound.
They support their wives and raise their children. They shop for groceries, cook, do the laundry, and water the flowers.
They have an endearing nickname: military son-in-laws.
That's right, they are the spouses of the female soldiers, and the only group of male family members on the island.
There aren't many of them, just as there aren't many of their spouses. They're a minority on the island.
Together with those stunningly elegant female soldiers, they make up the island's most beautiful scenery.
An ensemble cast, with a redemptive theme.
Trying my hand at writing about the everyday lives of these men.
Told from the male lead's perspective. He goes into business, and the story is mainly set in the 1980s and 1990s.

Yao Zhizhi arrives with a gossip-watching System and transmigrates into one of the five daughters in the family known as "Five Golden Flowers and One Treasure."
Her parents want to find several long-term blood banks for their precious son, so they ask their city relatives to introduce three young men.
One is a factory director, divorced with a child. Another is a government official, widowed with a child. Her four older sisters can't agree on which one to choose.
Yao Zhizhi says, "Fine, I'll pick the sickly one who's about to die. At least it's his first marriage, and I won't have to be a stepmother. Besides, how can a sick man be a blood bank? The guy's practically dying and has no money!"
A sickly husband is great. They're less trouble.
Her mother-in-law even promises that whether or not they have children, as long as Yao Zhizhi makes the sickly man happy during the last few years of his life, once he kicks the bucket, she'll find Yao Zhizhi a reliable man to remarry.
Yao Zhizhi doesn't really care whether she remarries. Just getting an urban household registration is already a great deal.
Besides, she can tag along with her neighborhood police officer mother-in-law to hear the latest gossip and watch the drama. Life is so lively and fulfilling.
Later, they have a child, and the sickly man still hasn't kicked the bucket.
He even acts like a fortune-teller, accurately guessing the culprit every time.
Yao Zhizhi increasingly hopes he'll live to a hundred. Their child can't grow up without a father.
One day, she returns with her mother-in-law after helping mediate a dispute, only to find a crowd of strangers at her door.
Yao Zhizhi is inexplicably excited. "Is there new gossip?"
The man says, "...Honey, they're your biological parents."
Yao Zhizhi: ???
Theme: Loving your wife is the highest rule of being a good man.
The opening story and characters are well written, and the psychological description is very apt, making a deep impression upon reading. Later, I got married and had children, and it felt like the dust had settled. It seems that I can no longer feel the excitement of the opening chapter.
I hope Wang Wumao also has a good ending, alas.
"All you need to get a certificate is a marriage certificate." This is a big mistake for the author - ID card?
Wow... Fate...
What is soap? I don't know...
I really think a lot during adolescence, haha. Speaking of my menstruation, I didn't think about it that much (touching my chin). I was quite careless (mainly because I was suffering from menstrual cramps...)
Can this really be used to make scented candles?
What island? (Confuse)
Qiu Li... Um... I don't want her to be happy, but I want her to be happy.
Aha, here I come. I was too busy not long ago and haven't caught up on updates. Now I'm finally done 🌈
