Never Act in a Danmei Adaptation With Your Best Friend

A word of advice to everyone in the industry: never act in a danmei adaptation with your best friend.

Three months as colleagues, a lifetime as enemies.

It's hard to be friends after acting in a danmei adaptation. It's been three years since my buddy and I did one together. He's gone abroad and become an international movie star, and I've returned to my old job as a singer.

Three years! And our respective solo fanbases are still fighting!

?

Just last month, it was my buddy's birthday. I didn't even dare post a birthday greeting on Weibo. If I did, his fans would make "riding his coattails and leeching off his popularity" their theme and curse me out until next year.

Then my fans would fight back! His big birthday would turn into a day of attacks.

Can I post that greeting publicly? No, my friends, I can't!

It's rough.

?

Today, my buddy returned to the country, and I didn't even know! He didn't tell me!!

Don't say it. He must be trying to avoid rumors.

Waaah, you fighting fans, give me back my best friend!! He doesn't want me anymore because you keep arguing every single day!

?

Hold it in. Don't cry.

I'm going to watch a video of my buddy's fans meeting him at the airport to calm down.

?

Fan at the airport: I heard you turned down an offer from a world-famous director to come back this time. Is there something important bringing you home?

I watched my handsome buddy, who looked as if a god had descended to earth, pause as though reminiscing, as though thinking something over. Then he said, "I came back this time for someone."

?

Me: ...

Okay, say no more. I get it. Time to make myself some chicken soup. Ginseng chicken soup.

[Probably a silly, sweet little story]
