I should be able to finish this one. I'll post two chapters as a preview, and I should write this as my next book!
[Cool and aloof genius seme who overthinks his way into falling in love x Miaojiang beauty shou who's unaware he's leading him on; Ying Lin = Silver Bell = Little Bell]
To escape the nightmare ending where he becomes a sacrifice because he has no friends, Ying Lin quietly runs away the day after becoming the tribe's holy son.
Meanwhile, Mingcheng No. 1 High gains a strange transfer student. Even in the height of summer, he wears a clumsy school uniform jacket. His face is covered in heavy greasepaint, and thick-framed glasses sit over his features. His long black hair spills over his shoulders, and a clear silver-bell chime sounds from his trouser legs with every step.

A Handbook for Mastering Romance, Lesson One: Smile first
On his first day at school, Ying Lin is stopped by Sheng Tingwan, the rumored cold and unfeeling student discipline committee head and top student.
"You can't wear makeup, grow your hair long if you're a boy, or wear jewelry on campus."
Ying Lin recalls what the book taught him, takes off his glasses, slightly curves his lips, and smiles at him, his brows and eyes trembling gently
Then he takes advantage of the other boy's daze to dash onto campus.

A Handbook for Mastering Romance, Lesson Two: Be yourself
Ying Lin is naturally spoiled and sweet. After drinking water, he unconsciously sticks out the tip of his tongue to lick his lips. His pajamas are made of the finest silk, and even in the height of summer he insists on fastening the top button all the way. He takes at least half an hour to shower, and afterward glistening droplets of water cling to his collarbones. He's the complete opposite of his stern, old-fashioned new deskmate and roommate, Sheng Tingwan.
Ying Lin thinks Sheng Tingwan probably can't stand the way he acts and wants to lecture him about school rules. Otherwise, why does his Adam's apple keep bobbing whenever he's around?
-
A Handbook for Mastering Romance, Lesson Three: Get closer
As far as Ying Lin is concerned, Sheng Tingwan may not smile much, but they're already friends. So in class, Ying Lin inches closer to him now and then, borrows his school jacket to wear, and carefully sketches his silhouette on drawing paper before keeping it safe in his notebook.
But why does his deskmate look so serious and earnest when he tells him, "You shouldn't date in high school"?

A Handbook for Mastering Romance, Lesson Four: Share and support each other
To make more friends, Ying Lin smiles as he puts a piece of braised pork from his plate into the PE rep's bowl. He meekly lets the study committee member tidy his tousled hair. When he makes a blackboard mural with the publicity committee member, the pale, slender wrist that has only ever drawn Sheng Tingwan's portraits flits through the air.
Hey, why did Sheng Tingwan add three whole spoonfuls of vinegar when they had wonton soup together at lunch?

A Handbook for Mastering Romance, Lesson N: Show off your beauty
At the New Year's performance, Ying Lin finally works up the courage to remove his heavy greasepaint and glasses. Barefoot, his silver ankle bells softly chiming, he dances a folk-inspired routine under the spotlight. Everyone's eyes are drawn to him, leaving them dazed and unable to look away.
In a dark corner beneath the stage, Sheng Tingwan's fingers clench unconsciously
How can he be putting a love spell on them, too?
-
Sheng Tingwan finally can't take it anymore. He grabs that wrist he's dreamed about so many times. "Little Bell, putting love spells on people is forbidden on campus.
If you're going to cast one, cast it on me alone."
-
Ying Lin, as spoiled as ever, feels the pain of his wrist being squeezed and thinks indignantly: I leaned close to him in class because I was sleepy, wore his jacket because I was cold, and sketched him to practice drawing people. What's a love spell? Even in Miaojiang, that tradition disappeared ages ago.
So what exactly did I do to deserve having my wrist squeezed this hard? It's all red!

The final lesson of A Handbook for Mastering Romance: This course explains N ways to pursue love. The companion book, A Handbook for Mastering Friendship, is on sale now. Please don't mix them up :)
Ying Lin: ?
After the college entrance exams, Sheng Tingwan tenderly and reverently kisses Ying Lin's pale pink fingertip. But the next day, Ying Lin vanishes from Mingcheng without a trace.
When Sheng Tingwan comes looking for him, Ying Lin, who's gone home to help build up Miaojiang, says: "Sorry, who are you looking for?"
[Reading Guide]
1. Entirely fictional, entirely fictional, entirely fictional. A new, socialist Miaojiang, with no supernatural elements whatsoever. The main character does keep a few little pets without any fur (gestures).
2. A sweet romance. If it isn't sweet, you don't pay. This is an indulgent experiment with my favorite tropes and a focus on romance. If you don't like it, let's part on good terms. Please don't yell at me TAT
3. School life in the first half, chasing his wife in Miaojiang in the second. Firmly committed to one-on-one romance. Little Bell is an art student, so don't complain that he doesn't study quq
4. The main character is the most, most, most, most, most (emphasis) beautiful. If you've read my last book, you should know I like describing appearances (gestures), so there'll be lots of that in this one too (gestures). There'll also be lots of sickly beauty elements (gestures).
5. They only start dating as adults. High school is for studying hard and enjoying the awkward sweetness of school life (gestures).
6. I can't think of anything else for now, but six is a lucky number
