The Breakup-and-Reconciliation Story Has Gone Off the Rails

1. Sister-in-law x younger sister

2. Li Jiahuo is a useless scumbag

Yu Chuyou has someone she loves.

Like his widely renowned, universally adored younger sister, Li Jiahuo has a pair of sparkling, alluring eyes that make it seem as though he looks at everyone with tenderness. Yu Chuyou is bewitched by those eyes, and has been in love with him for years.

When he accepts her confession, Yu Chuyou is overjoyed, thinking a happy future is within reach. But an accident reveals the truth: Li Jiahuo only agreed because of a stupid bet. He toys with the cigarette in his hand and says dismissively, "She's so bland, there's nothing interesting about her. I can barely enjoy winning this little bit of money."

"Exactly." A friend with ulterior motives chimes in ingratiatingly. "Who could compare to your sister? She's the real knockout."

In a panic, Yu Chuyou flees. Only after she has gone does Li Jiahuo realize his true feelings. Eyes red, he falls to his knees and begs her to forgive him. "I'm a piece of trash, Youzi. Will you come home with me?"

This should have been a moving tale of a man chasing his ex until she takes him back.

But

When Yu Chuyou first meets her boyfriend's family, she wears a long ivory dress and sits elegantly and properly, quietly looking at the dishes and chopsticks in front of her.

Across from her sits the Li family's younger sister, dressed in hot pants. The lamplight falls across the delicate collarbones beneath her off-the-shoulder top. Even after she drinks, her red lips seem to leave a gorgeous kiss mark on the clear glass.

Her parents frown. "Look at yourself. Can you ever behave properly? Why not learn from your sister-in-law, Chuyou?"

"Sure." She drawls lazily, discreetly watching the delicate girl whose fingers tremble. As if asking out of innocent curiosity, she says, "Sister-in-law, why aren't you looking at me?"

Yu Chuyou lowers her eyes.

No one knows what absurd conversation once took place in a shadowed corner.

"Are you insane? I'm your brother's girlfriend. What are you doing?"

"I understand." Under the moonlight, the girl blinks, the alluring corners of her eyes captivating the heart. "So can I kiss you now, Sister-in-law?"
