After I Dumped the Heroine, It Was My Turn to Cry

Recently, Ruan Yubai got her hands on a new piece of toilet literature. Although half the book had been torn off, that didn't stop her from savoring its melodramatic, deliciously angsty plot.

The heroine, Qing Ling, is poor and beautiful. After her family goes bankrupt, she's forced into a marriage alliance with a Beta female supporting character. A peerless beauty, strong yet tragically doomed: what could be more perfect?

Fortunately, the heroine is steadfast. After making a comeback, she becomes an irresistible heartthrob, catching the attention of the strongest Alpha in the stars. The two fight and fall in love, gradually developing feelings for each other until they finally become a couple.

When Ruan Yubai read that the Beta female side character with the same name as her in the book died coughing up blood while protecting the heroine, she couldn't take it anymore. Slapping the table, she laughed like a goose: What kind of brain-dead cannon fodder is this idiot?

Just then, the butler knocked and entered, giving her a barely concealed look of contempt. “Madam wants you downstairs. Your marriage-alliance partner, Miss Qing Ling, has arrived.”

Ruan Yubai's laughter abruptly stopped.

To avoid an early death, Ruan Yubai, who has read a thousand melodramatic novels, made up her mind: Take the villain's path and leave the protagonists nowhere to go!

Ruan Yubai wrapped an arm around the heroine's neck and said smugly, “I'm going to mark you. Scared?”

A quiet, gentle sweetness wafted from her. Her fine white teeth grazed the other woman's skin, but as a Beta, she couldn't mark anyone, so rather than pain, it felt like a soft tickle.

Qing Ling calmly brushed aside her thick hair, baring a porcelain-white stretch of neck to make it easier to bite, while laughing lightly. “Help, I'm so scared.”

Ruan Yubai paused mid-grind of her teeth. Why did something feel a little off?

By chance, Ruan Yubai saw the heroine injecting herself with suppressants. She had only meant to walk past, but her heart stirred. Grabbing the other woman's slender, pale fingers, she put on a wicked villain's smile. “Is this your weakness? You'd better be careful.”

Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted the haughty Alpha glaring with fury. Ruan Yubai couldn't help feeling delighted: Nice, I can make it through another ten chapters of abusing the scum.

Qing Ling lowered her gaze, then flicked open a lighter and used her full red lips to pass the mint-scented smoke into the startled girl's mouth.

Amid the swirling smoke, Qing Ling's voice turned husky. “Now I have a secret of yours, too.”

Ruan Yubai: ???!!!

[Later]

At last, the scene where she was supposed to get killed off arrived. Ruan Yubai resigned herself and closed her eyes. But when she saw the heartthrob heroine wielding a blood-red sword, killing her fated Alpha lover in one strike, then walking toward her with a dark expression, she was completely bewildered. What the heck? Why isn't the story going the way I imagined?

"Good grief! I thought I was the shameless, evil landlord Huang Shiren. How did I end up getting turned on by Xier?"

“That's right.” A friend with ulterior motives chimed in obsequiously. “Who could compare to your sister? She's the one who really gets you going.”

In a panic, Yu Chuyou fled. Only after she was gone did Li Jiahuo realize how he truly felt. Red-eyed, he knelt and begged her to forgive him. “I'm a piece of trash, Youzi. Will you come home with me?”

This should have been a moving tale of a man begging for his ex back.

But...

After her ex-boyfriend relentlessly harassed her, claiming he was gravely ill, Yu Chuyou had no choice but to go to his house for one last dinner. Dressed in a long, ivory-white dress, she sat quietly before her dishes, elegant and proper. Across from her sat the Li family's younger daughter, wearing hot pants. The light fell across her graceful collarbones beneath her off-the-shoulder top, and even after sipping water, her red lips seemed to leave a gorgeous kiss mark on the clear glass.

Her parents frowned. “Look at you, you never know how to behave. Can't you learn from your older sister Chuyou?”

“Sure.” She drew out her words lazily, discreetly eyeing the frail girl whose fingers were trembling. With an innocent, curious air, she asked, “Sister-in-law, why aren't you looking at me?”

Yu Chuyou lowered her eyes.

No one knew what absurd conversation had once taken place in that shadowed corner.

“You're drunk. Look carefully, do you even know who I am?”

“That's right, I'm drunk.” Under the moonlight, the girl blinked. The scent of rose wine mingled into a fleeting crimson haze, and the alluring light at the corners of her eyes was utterly captivating. “So can I kiss you now, Sister Chuyou?”
