Black Butterfly

[There will be an alternate storyline. It’s an angsty, thrilling love story, starting tonight. The events in the blurb also happen in the alternate storyline, but the final ending is happy.]

Duan Sili was once the illegitimate son of the wealthy Duan family, kept out of sight. Now he was the new head of the family, the one who had saved it from collapse.

Without him, the Duan family would have fallen apart long ago.

The second master of the Duan family was worth billions. His features were cold and sharp, and he was ruthless in the way he did business. Yet he had no interest in women and refused to enter an arranged marriage, leaving countless heiresses and young ladies in the Aogang Bay area sighing in disappointment.

At a party, a friend of Duan Sili’s dug up an old high school photo.

Someone pointed to the girl in the white dress and exclaimed, “Who’s that? She’s so pretty!”

The air suddenly went silent.

For all these years, no one had dared mention Xu Yin in front of Duan Sili: the dark-moonlight ex-girlfriend who had nearly brought down the Duan family and gotten Duan Sili killed.

Where was she now? Nobody knew.

Duan Sili had once said to her face that if she dared come back, he’d rip her tendons out, skin her alive, and throw her into the sea to feed the fish.

People said she had fled overseas.

…

Duan Sili left the club and returned home.

In the dead of night, inside the mansion, a young woman in a pure white dress, like a gardenia bud, was held captive in his arms. He kissed her until her lips hurt.

“Duan Sili, we agreed I’d stay with you for three months and then we’d settle our old scores! It’s been six months already. When are you going to let me go?”

He gripped her chin, his eyes damp, his voice merciless. “In your next life.”

…

Ever since he brought her back, she had been imprisoned at his side, day and night. Her sentence was life without parole.
