I Really Only Want to Be a Layabout

In his previous life, Xie Yuchuan worked diligently and conscientiously, governing Great Yan until it was peaceful and prosperous. The only thing people criticized him for was his unpredictable temper. He was quick to anger and easily irritated. Xie Yuchuan knew he had a bad temper. Obviously! Anyone who slept less than three hours a day, worked themselves to the bone reviewing memorials, had to manage relations between ministers, and then listen to them ramble through every morning court session would have a bad temper! At times like those, he would think back to his years as a puppet emperor, when the regent controlled the government. He had no real power, but he lived comfortably, enjoying himself every day. Then he opened his eyes and found himself reborn in the year he had first become a puppet emperor. Wasn't being a lazy fish great? It was the happiest way to live! The wise emperor of a generation sprawled out like a couch potato and decided to enjoy life this time around, leaving state affairs alone. But... why was everyone around him urging him to seize power? Why was even the regent trying to persuade him? Royalists: Your Majesty, the regent is a scheming wolf. He has controlled the government for years. At this rate, our nation will cease to be a nation! Xie Yuchuan: I think he's doing a fine job governing. If you have a problem, go to him. Don't bother me. Royalists: Great Yan is doomed! His Majesty has been brainwashed by that villain! Somehow, those words eventually reached the regent, Fang Yunxiao. He gently rubbed Xie Yuchuan's earlobe, a smile playing on his lips, and said in a husky voice, "So Your Majesty places such great trust in me. I will not let you down." Xie Yuchuan: "...Get off my bed." A laid-back emperor who just wants to laze around, shou vs. a diligent regent, gong Theme: Keep a calm heart
