[Empress Dowager x Emperor]

Not long after Yu Yuan became empress, the crown prince died.

A month later, the third prince staged a coup, and the emperor died as well.

So, at the age of thirty, Yu Yuan became the youngest empress dowager in the history of the Great Yan dynasty.

Everyone said that the new emperor had never been close to his stepmother when he was a prince, so naturally he wouldn't treat her as his mother or show her filial devotion.

The world was half right.

The third prince had indeed never treated her as his mother or shown her filial devotion, but after becoming the new emperor...

He spent every day in close company with her, paying his respects morning and evening.

Someone once told Jiang Lin that only by climbing to the very top and firmly holding power in his hands could he obtain everything he wanted.

At the time, he didn't care. He had no interest at all in that lofty throne.

Until he met someone.

She gave him the only warmth and light in his life, and from then on he longed for her day and night, unable to forget her.

After that, he lived for only one thing: to sit upon that throne, so that from then on, she would have eyes and a heart for no one but him.

If she refused, then this imperial palace would be the cage he built for her.
