The Femme Fatale

[Blurb:]

Wen Wuxue is the infamous temptress consort, a calamity known to all.

Relying on her peerless beauty, she seduces the emperor and murders loyal officials. Even Li Shangshu, the most upright official in the court, dies at her hands.

The court officials have hated her for a long time. So, while the emperor is gravely ill, they ask Xue Ji, the current prime minister, to lead them in purging the court of evil and killing the wicked temptress.

But on the night before they are to carry out their plan, the emperor dies and the imperial city catches fire.

In the towering flames, someone spots Xue Ji kissing a woman in a secluded corner.

The woman has peach-pink cheeks and red lips, a radiant, bewitching beauty. Her arms loop around his neck, and her gaze at him is full of seductive allure.

She smiles. "Uncle, you're overstepping your place."

Looking at the woman teasing him, Xue Ji's eyes grow dark, roiling with boundless possessiveness and obsession.

He replies hoarsely, "Next time, I'll be on top."

Everyone says the prime minister is a man of impeccable virtue, proper and self-possessed, standing proudly like a pine atop a snowy mountain, never lowering his head.

But only Xue Ji knows that

Wen Wuxue, his niece, who once knocked on his door with a letter from her mother, his younger sister, is the unspoken sin and desire he cannot confess.

When their breaths mingle, all it takes is for her to say "Uncle" and he loses every shred of reason, wanting only to lower his head and silence the lips that tempt him.

He thought this was as far as he would go in breaking his moral code, until

The emperor bestowed his favor and took Wen Wuxue into the palace as a consort.

[Beloved consort niece X powerful minister uncle]
