I Heard the Great Sima Is a Wife-Devoted Husband

★--------------- Blurb ---------------★

[Quiet, taciturn general x mischievous young princess]

An imperial decree weds Helian Qing, the Grand Marshal of the realm, to Wen Ruoyan, a princess from the capital.

Wen Ruoyan is furious back home, while Helian Qing remains unruffled at the border.

But an imperial decree cannot be disobeyed, and the two are eventually married.

That night, the princess lays out a list of "humiliating, unequal terms," including:

Everything the Madam says is wise advice, and must not be contradicted;

Everything the Madam does is right, and must not be opposed;

When the Madam is thirsty, bring her water; when she's tired, rub her back; when she's sleepy, soothe her to sleep;

When the Madam argues with someone, take her side;

When the Madam has a gathering with her close friends, wait on her;

No matter what the Madam does, indulge her, and so on.

Wen Ruoyan lays out the terms, confidently waiting for him to fly into a rage.

But she never expected that this undefeated general, who had never lost a city,

would sign his name and stamp his thumbprint on these "unequal treaties" without a moment's hesitation, all in one go.

Wen Ruoyan: Wait, things don't seem to be going the way I expected.

Later, rumors that the Grand Marshal was afraid of his wife spread all over the capital.

When the news reached the soldiers in the camp, not one of them believed it.

How could their real man, who had slain thousands of enemies, had bones of iron, and had eight-pack abs, be afraid of his wife?

So one of the bolder soldiers took the lead and asked him,

Soldier: General, people outside are saying you're afraid of your wife. Is... is that really true?

At that moment, Helian Qing was completely absorbed in crafting a tiny hairpin with his rough hands.

Without even thinking, he replied, "Mm. That's true."
