I Use Science to Ward Off Evil on a Variety Show

[I struggle with blurbs, so I'll revise this before the story starts. The core premise won't change.]

After finishing her college entrance exams, Shi Yi joined an idol survival show. But not long after filming began, strange hauntings started happening one after another.

Facing a recording set full of panicked people, Shi Yi, the bravest of them all, rolled up her sleeves and calmed everyone with scientific knowledge:

The bathroom lights keep flickering, and there's a strange noise? No problem, it's a wiring fault.

You saw the Gate to the Underworld in the window? No problem, it's a quasi-stationary front, something they teach in high school geography.

What? You caught a ghost on camera? No problem, it's a camera glitch and the photographer's shaky hands. Wait, you came here for an idol survival show, so why do you have a phone?

The contestants all felt reassured. Shi Yi, you are our god!

Little did they know, the troublesome ghosts had sensed the powerful aura around Shi Yi and were cowering in a corner, trembling:

Can someone tell me why the Ghost King is here?!

On the surface, mentor Cen Yang is a rising star who debuted as an idol and won the Best Actor award at a young age. In private, though, he's obsessed with the "I Ching" and secretly studies the occult.

Cen Yang dreams of exorcising a ghost with his own hands.

He's worked hard at it, and just before the show began, a stroke of luck gave him the ability to see ghosts.

But on the first day of filming, during the contestants' initial evaluations, he inexplicably sensed a wave of ghostly energy.

Cen Yang's spirits soared: His chance has come!

To make his dream come true, he decides to approach Shi Yi, the most easygoing-looking trainee on the show, and gradually uncover which of the trainees is a ghost.

But before he can even say hello, the rookie Taoist Cen Yang is stunned by the aura around Shi Yi and faints into the girl's arms with his eyes shut.

Shi Yi catches the Best Actor, completely bewildered. Mentor? What's wrong with you?

Cen Yang waves a hand at her: Could you stand a little farther away? My heart's beating kind of fast...
