The Years I Taught Baoyu to Strive for Success

Fang Jinru's father was a poor scholar, and their family survived on aid from the Jia family, distant relatives who were barely related to them. Fang Jinru was better than his father. At twelve, he came first in both the county and prefectural exams, becoming the hottest topic in Jinling.

The Jia family was an influential clan, but the little devils in the family were running riot. They wanted to build connections, and they also hoped Fang Jinru could help rein in their young hellions. So they invited him to tutor at the Jia family school.

"That older brother looks awfully familiar." The mischievous Jia Baoyu stopped acting up and stared fixedly at Fang Jinru.

Of all the little brats in the Jia family, there were few who weren't troublemakers. But after looking them all over, Baoyu was the best-looking, and the only one who stood out from that pack of rotten fish and shrimp.

Fang Jinru: Have you heard of the Soviet Union?

Jia Baoyu: If you say so, older brother, I'll listen. If I don't understand, you'll teach me.

Another day

Jia Baoyu: Little Sister Lin, have you heard of the Soviet Union?

Lin Daiyu: What nonsense are you spouting now?

Jia Baoyu: How can that be nonsense? Brother Fang told me about it, so of course it's a good thing.

Another day later

Lin Daiyu: Sister Bao, have you ever heard of something called the Soviet Union?

Fang Jinru's heart is devoted to the sun, with room only for his career and justice. Romance can wait until he's twenty-plus.

Day after day and night after night teaching Baoyu, month after month promoting a moderately prosperous society.
