Something Seems Off About the World

This is the third year since the calamity began. To find his twin older brother, who went missing during a mission, Ye Chigui joined the shelter and became a newly hired E-rank observer. Yet from the very first day he set foot inside, Ye Chigui had the nagging feeling that something was off. It was as if countless invisible eyes were fixed on him, their gazes greedy and dangerous, like ferocious beasts poised to hunt. ...Just his imagination, right? Clinging to that thought, Ye Chigui diligently slacked off at the shelter while secretly searching for his brother. Until one day. The Sun, one of the S-rank contaminants imprisoned in the shelter's deepest level, pierced through hundreds of meters of containment and appeared before Ye Chigui. “I’ve finally... found you.” That was only the beginning. More and more S-rank contaminants began to intrude into Ye Chigui’s life. The Abyss, capable of devouring everything, turned its gaze upon him; The Lock of Heaven, able to bind all things, broke free from surveillance and became an impassable barrier protecting him; The Azure Lotus, cloaked in murderous calamity, opened its defenses to him and allowed him to touch its heart; The Dawn-Dusk Star, one being of light and darkness, cherished him like a treasure in its palm and indulged his every whim, in either aspect. It seemed he had been born to earn the affection of these S-rank contaminants without having to pay any price. But when his missing brother appeared before him in a scarlet robe, bearing a form that could never belong to a human, and invited Ye Chigui to leave with him, the once-friendly S-rank contaminants finally bared their sharp fangs. As the S-rank contaminants fought one another in a chaos so fierce it blotted out the sky and darkened the sun and moon, Ye Chigui had no choice but to consider a question: Did he really have to choose between his family and his friends?
