The Sect Leader Holds Down the Coffin Lid

Lan Qi was still young when she was thrust into the role of leader of a declining sect. She showed up at the entrance with her bundle, only to discover she'd been tricked...

Demolition work at the foot of the mountain had ruined the feng shui, and all the evil spirits sealed inside the sect escaped. The zongzi confined at the back of the mountain began stirring too. The oldest were four or five thousand years old, while the youngest were fresh out of the grave, and they all bared their gruesome fangs.

The disciples clung to her leg, desperately begging her to stay. Looking at her starving, gaunt disciples, Lan Qi couldn't bear to leave, so she reluctantly took up the position.

The evil spirits floated unchecked at the foot of the mountain, terrorizing the locals. “Who can stop me now? Who can stop me now? Hahahahahaha!!!”

Lan Qi sharpened her copper coin sword and ran it straight through one of them, baring her teeth in a grin. “Quiet down, damn you!”

The zongzi at the back of the mountain struggled to climb out of its coffin. “I want meat! Meat!!”

Lan Qi planted one foot on the coffin lid, a warding nail clenched between her teeth, and hammered it back in. “The temple's been out of food for half a month. What the hell makes you think you'll get any?”

As the Ghost King, Zhen Xuan worked diligently to boost the Underworld's GDP. He handed a business card to Lan Qi, whose work skills were second to none. “Interested in a civil service job in the Underworld?”

Lan Qi: “My goal is a civil service job in Heaven, thanks.”

Zhen Xuan: “Excellent benefits, a generous salary with no cap, five insurance plans and a housing fund, paid leave, two company-paid trips a year, and just two hours of work a day. Will you reconsider?”
