Tearing Away the Tenderness

When Nan Shu first met Chen Heng, she was crouched in the rain with her arms around her knees, filthy and emaciated, like a cat barely clinging to life.

He took her in and cared for her, like a faint light that had entered her life.

Later, he made a mistake.

Nan Shu finally saw through his hypocritical facade. Eyes bloodshot, she smashed everything in sight, ignored everyone's attempts to stop her, and disappeared from his life for good.

Four years later.

Nan Shu returned to the country and worked as a Russian interpreter at a diplomatic reception.

Chen Heng had been invited, too. He watched her slender, statuesque figure move through the center of the reception and couldn't take his eyes off her.

When the crowd dispersed, he stopped her and said, "Nan Shu, long time no see."

Nan Shu glanced at him, her eyes so cold they sent a shiver down his spine. "Do we know each other, sir?"
