I Found a Boyfriend Online [Crime Investigation]

[Ice-cold expert x passionate policewoman | Mutual salvation | Reunion after a long separation | Pretend relationship becomes real]

Wen Yan receives an invitation to her ex-boyfriend's wedding.

Determined not to be outdone by the scumbag, she decides to find a fake boyfriend.

At the time, Jiang Yuanzhou is a college senior, barely scraping by on his meager living expenses.

Wearing clothes washed so often they've faded, he's at a bar being pressured to drink.

Wen Yan stares at his watery eyes and reddened eye corners, reminded of an injured rabbit she once raised as a child.

Him. He'll do.

Jiang Yuanzhou takes their agreement seriously.

He cleans himself up and looks handsome, treats Wen Yan attentively at the wedding, and makes her female classmates green with envy. Then he uses a little trick to embarrass the ex-boyfriend she hates.

Later, when a murder case occurs, Jiang Yuanzhou also shows Wen Yan his exceptional talent for solving crimes.

He helps her search for clues, and soon they bring the murderer to justice.

Wen Yan is grateful and recognizes his talent.

When their deal ends, she transfers another sum of money to Jiang Yuanzhou's account.

Later, when Jiang Yuanzhou prepares for the judicial exam, she finds different ways to keep him company as he studies.

When he gets caught up in a murder case, she braves her colleagues' suspicious looks to be his alibi.

When he sells his home and has nowhere to go, she lets him stay with her temporarily and has him cook to cover the rent.

Just as Jiang Yuanzhou thinks the two of them might take things further, Wen Yan ruthlessly ends their relationship.

They meet again six years later. Jiang Yuanzhou has returned to the country and become the police force's chief criminal psychology consultant.

He's young, single, tall, handsome, with an impressive resume and a bright future. Everyone at the police station is eager to set him up with someone.

Some even approach Wen Yan to ask what her work partner is like.

Wen Yan is exasperated, so she can only list Jiang Yuanzhou's good qualities from memory.

Then one night, Jiang Yuanzhou corners her at her front door. "Wen Yan, you tell other people how wonderful I am, so why won't you have me?"

Wen Yan says nothing. Her eyes slowly turn red.

Jiang Yuanzhou's voice goes hoarse too. "Could you give me one more chance to be your boyfriend? For real this time."
