Pretending to Love Deeply

There are four bravest things He Shen has done in his life.

First, he forced Ji Huaiyan to marry him.

Second, he divorced him, just as Ji Huaiyan wanted.

Third, he gave birth to a child in a foreign land.

Fourth, when they met again, he refused Ji Huaiyan's request to remarry.

Eight years ago, Ji Huaiyan was a little-known, unsuccessful actor.

Eight years later, Ji Huaiyan is a hugely popular award-winning actor.

Eight years ago, He Shen was the pampered young master of the He family, doted on by his parents and older brother. He did everything he could to force Ji Huaiyan to marry him.

In the fourth year of their marriage, the He family went bankrupt. He Shen was the only one to escape disaster; his parents and brother all died tragically.

That same year, He Shen signed the divorce agreement Ji Huaiyan had signed long ago, then vanished from his life.

Four years after their divorce, He Shen returned to the country with a child in his arms who looked almost exactly like Ji Huaiyan.

That same year, Ji Huaiyan announced his retirement from show business.

A short story, written on a whim for fun. Not sure yet whether it'll have a happy or tragic ending.
