The Universe for You

One year during the Qixi Festival, a reporter stopped a young couple on the street for an interview. “Would you share one thing your partner has done that really moved you?”

“Um, just one? My husband has done so many things that touched me...”

He lowered his head slightly and pressed his lips together, his dimples sinking in as he secretly prepared to receive a round of praise.

“Well, for example, he wrote me a poem for my birthday called ‘Missing My Lovely Wife on the Ninth Day of the Ninth Month.’ And once, in the pouring rain, he brought me two umbrellas. And...” The woman raised the cockscomb flower in her hand. “This is the gift he gave me today!”

The reporter awkwardly turned the microphone toward the man. “Sir, is there anything you'd like to say?”

“Um... Yu Zhou, I love you!”

[I say I love you, and you say you do too. My smiling eyes are for you, my sweetness is for you, and the whole universe is yours.]
