In the later years of Emperor Wu of Han's reign, the empire's two great generals, Wei Qing and Huo Qubing, had both passed away.
To join forces with Wusun against the Xiongnu, Liu Che made Liu Xijun, the daughter of a convicted official, a princess and sent her to Wusun in a marriage alliance.
Less than two years after the marriage, Princess Xijun's husband fell ill and died. According to Wusun custom, she had to marry her husband's heir, who was also her husband's grandson.
Princess Xijun was deeply unhappy, and before long, she passed away.
To maintain ties between the Han and Wusun, Liu Che made Liu Jieyou, also the daughter of a convicted official, a princess and ordered her to marry into Wusun.
Soon, Liu Jieyou set out for Wusun with the people Liu Che had assigned to assist her and the soldiers escorting the marriage party.
But on the journey, the party was attacked by a Xiongnu army intent on sabotaging the marriage alliance.
After a fierce battle, the marriage party suddenly vanished without a trace...
When everyone came to their senses, they found themselves surrounded by soldiers in old-fashioned armor.
The soldiers called themselves the Old Qin, and their leader was General Meng Tian, who guarded the frontier.
The year was the very one in which Qin Shi Huang would unite the seven states.
Hearing this, the transmigrated Liu Jieyou fell into thought.
Wusun was distant and remote, the pay was poor, and career prospects were bleak.
If she had to choose a place to marry into and work, why not pick somewhere with better pay and prospects?
Please note:
1. This story takes place in a fictional parallel-world Qin and Han dynasty, not in actual history. Historical events may be adjusted to suit the plot.
2. The transmigrated heroine feels nothing for Liu Che, but the original Liu Jieyou was deeply devoted to serving the Han. The people around the heroine are also loyal to Liu Che, so she must protect Han interests to keep them on her side. Her goal is to become Crown Princess of Qin and eventually its regent empress. To go from being a pawn to the one moving the pieces, she must gain a voice of her own. She has a clear goal from the start and is ambitious, so if you dislike that, please don't read.
3. The heroine has the Marriage Alliance Princess System, whose purpose is to help two countries reach a mutually beneficial agreement. In this story, Qin under the First Emperor and Han under Emperor Wu cooperate for mutual benefit, with no putting either side down. However, Liu Bang's Han in the First Emperor's timeline will be treated harmoniously. Please don't read if that bothers you.
4. This is neither a story about a powerful heroine nor a feminist story.
