The Rise of a Qin Dynasty Female Soldier

Xiao Yun woke in the middle of the night from hunger. She had never known that being hungry could feel so awful.

She was strong and had a huge appetite, but ever since she transmigrated, she often had nothing to eat after one meal.

Her state of Zhao had suffered one earthquake and drought after another, then came under attack by Qin troops. Before long, the land was strewn with starving corpses.

Soon, Zhao could hold out no longer and surrendered to Qin.

Xiao Yun, whose country had suddenly fallen, had no mind to mourn Zhao.

She only wanted to fill her stomach and make sure she did not become one of the people who starved to death.

She watched her grandmother, whose eyes were half blind, earn meager money and food by washing clothes for others.

She watched her tiny, scrawny younger brother kneel before passing Qin soldiers for the sake of a bite to eat, letting them make sport of him.

Poverty meant having no hope and no dignity.

Xiao Yun resolved to change things.

Just then, the Qin army sent out a call for soldiers. Recruits would receive a ration of food each day.

The Qin army had twenty ranks of merit and nobility. Soldiers who distinguished themselves on the battlefield could earn a title, ensuring their families would never go hungry or lack clothing.

Everyone around her said the Qin people would never treat Zhao people so well. They were surely tricking them into going off to die.

But Xiao Yun stared intently at these strange symbols she could not read. Resolutely taking the name of her missing elder brother, she entered the Qin military camp...

This is the story of a heroine who rises from the ranks of the lowest foot soldiers, step by step, to become a marquis. Her love interest is Fusu.
