A Handbook for the Eldest Princess of the First Emperor

Hua Ying was King Zheng of Qin's first child. She was born healthy and lively, and the king doted on her.

Not long after she was born, the king often kept her by his side, raising and teaching her himself.

Whenever people in the palace saw the father and daughter getting along so happily, they couldn't help sighing:

"What a pity the eldest princess isn't a boy. Otherwise, the Great Qin would have an heir."

In the year Hua Ying turned five, her first younger brother, Fusu, was born.

Hua Ying poked Fusu's soft, pale cheeks again and again, her brows furrowed in displeasure. "Father, everyone around me says I'm the older sister and should give way to my little brother. Is that true? Do I have to give him my toys, my seal, and even you?"

King Zheng of Qin set down his bamboo slips. "With your little tyrant's temperament, who could you possibly give way to? You'd be doing well just not to snatch things from other people! Fine, if you don't want to give way, then don't. But as the older sister, you still need to look after your younger brother."

Hua Ying's eyes lit up. She hid the hand she'd been using to cause trouble behind her back and declared loudly, "Of course! As the older sister, I'll take good care of all my younger brothers and sisters! But if they do something wrong, they still deserve a beating!"

King Zheng of Qin looked at his eldest daughter, who was excitedly rubbing her hands together, and shook his head with a helpless, amused smile.

The little girl who used to do nothing but cling to his arms and act spoiled had grown clever and had secrets of her own.
