Assassinating Qin

I transmigrated to the Warring States period.

The System told me that if I wanted to go home, I had to protect a boy named Zhao Zheng and keep the furious people of Zhao from killing him.

I had to make sure he returned safely to Qin, then die in front of him.

After that, the System would change my appearance and have me pose as a fangshi, so I could sell him health supplements.

I'd follow in Xu Fu's footsteps, swindle his money and win his heart, then sail away and never return.

After that, I had to make a cameo as Jing Ke, carry out the failed assassination of the King of Qin, and ultimately die by his sword.

I thought it would all be easy.

But I never expected to get stuck on the final step of going home. When I pointed my dagger at the King of Qin, he lunged straight into its blade.

My hand shook, and the knife almost slipped to the ground.

He grabbed my hand. His voice was hoarse and restrained as he whispered in my ear, "Why did you stop pretending?"
