Mistaking a Killer for a Young Hero

Two years after graduation, I returned to my hometown to take a civil service exam. On the way, I saw a fortune-teller who charged ten yuan a reading. He said an opportunity was coming my way, but whether it would bring fortune or disaster was hard to say. He could ward it off for me if I scanned a QR code and paid a thousand. I walked away without looking back.

The pressure of studying for the exam was intense. One afternoon, while tidying the house, I found the martial arts novels Mom had collected when she was young, so I opened one. I cried my eyes out that day. The young hero died in the end.

Later, one stormy night, a young hero covered in blood appeared in my living room.

The young hero transmigrated from the book into my world. I looked after him and would have split even my last yuan with him.

He was grateful and treated me well too. He kept me company during my exams, taught my disobedient younger brother a lesson, and stood up for me, a coward who was timid around other people.

He was cheerful and had a radiant smile. I'd never seen him unhappy.

I thought this wonderful companionship would last forever, until one night he barged into my room. His usually sunny expression had turned rather unsettling.

He took out two books. They were the martial arts novels Mom had collected. How had another book, a side story, appeared? I'd never seen the other one before.

"Ru Yi, how about we sleep together and become a real married couple?"

I wanted to relieve the pressure of studying for the civil service exam, but not like this! Besides, I haven't even passed the exam yet. Why am I thinking about romance?

Please note:

1. Older woman-younger man romance. A laid-back heroine, easily contented like a steamed bun, × a sunny, cheerful, cheeky hero. Strong hero, weak heroine, with a tiny bit of forced romance.

2. The hero transmigrates into the modern world at the beginning. Later, there are parts where they travel to the martial arts world.

3. First-person narration, with some chapters from the hero's perspective.

4. I'll add more if I think of anything.
