Also known as: "The Second-Run Fourth Calamity's Grand Childhood-Friend Rescue Operation"
"Detective Conan" should be a combat game.
Gin agrees: You're the best combat tool under my command, and I'm your only boss.
The player looks at the health bar above Gin's head, pulls out a pistol, and fires.
What do you mean, my only boss? Once I beat you, I can take your place.
From the start, the player's inventory contains an NPC named Hiromitsu Morofushi. He's lying there with a hole in his chest.
Confirmed: this corpse has been dead for a long time.
The player nods: Main quest confirmed. Revive the dead man in my inventory, take down Gin, and become the Black Organization's boss.
There's a member of the Organization named Cognac. They say he doesn't feel pain or fatigue, has superb hand-to-hand skills, and wears a mask all the time. Underneath it is a face identical to that of Hiromitsu Morofushi and Rei Furuya's childhood friend, Kuno Kaede.
The player diligently completes missions. Poisoning himself, being forcibly weakened to use skills, all of it is in service of completing the objectives. What? You think he looks miserable? So what? I can take a potion.
To Rei Furuya, this man is practically Gin's attack dog, obeying his every word without question and even taking Hiromitsu Morofushi's life.
Ha. If I get the chance, I'll definitely...
The player keeps diligently completing missions, then discovers that a romance System appears in the later stages. He can romance not only Gin (his own boss) and Bourbon (his rival), but even the man who's been dead in his inventory for ages.
Awesome! Let's go!
The rain pours down hard. Gin drags Cognac, who's been shot, toward the car, but Cognac curls up in the corner like a miserable little puppy. "Sorry, I got your car dirty again."
At the first snowfall, Rei Furuya stands before Hiromitsu Morofushi's empty grave, offering jasmine. Just then, he turns around. Cognac is standing outside the cemetery with a cat-eyed man. "Long time no see, Zero."
Kuno Kaede initially saw this world as nothing more than a playground, but there's always someone who can pull him back down to earth.
For instance, Kuno Kaede can see the countdown to everyone's death. When he sees the countdown to Hiromitsu Morofushi's death and cries in terror, someone tells him, "It's all right. Death isn't the end. Being forgotten is."
But he still forgot them.
Notes: 1. The player's real self is Hiromitsu and Rei's childhood friend, but he's actually a fourth calamity.
2. An indulgent, anything-goes work. The protagonist is an all-purpose heartthrob, with lots of people falling for him. The canon characters are portrayed through a deliberately skewed lens, but this is ultimately a story about redemption.
3. The bonus chapters will feature romance routes.
Theme: Forgetting is the most frightening kind of death
