[Lord of the Mysteries] Host, Stop Tempting Me

[From the male lead's perspective. I wanted to let Klein experience the perks of being the protagonist of a power fantasy. Not recommended for readers who like to overthink.]

No. 01 is the Myriad Worlds Administration's most perfect creation, an all-purpose System said to complete every mission flawlessly once put into service.

Of course, that was merely the claim of its creator, Researcher ■■.

The Administration decided to assign No. 01 a mission of hellish difficulty to verify whether it really was a perfect System.

The world known as Lord of the Mysteries had reportedly received more bad reviews and complaints than any other. The reason given was that the Chosen One, an individual named Zhou Mingrui, had suffered far too much. His story could make anyone who heard it grieve and anyone who saw it weep.

So No. 01's mission was to ensure that the Chosen One's life had no regrets: become his System, bind him as its Host, and resolve the flood of complaints.

Several years later, the Administration found Researcher ■■ and told them the outcome of the mission.

“The mission was a great success. Zhou Mingrui's life is wonderful, and all the world's bad reviews have turned into good ones.”

■■: “That proves my creation really is perfect...”

“But there's bad news.”

■■: “?”

“No. 01 refuses to return to the Administration. It says, ‘A program bug has appeared. Unknown data is corrupted. No. 01 needs to continue studying this data in the Mysteries world.’”

■■: “??”

“Your creation has developed a bug. It has acquired human emotions. We suspect this was caused by the individual named Zhou Mingrui, but we still can't deny that your creation has a bug.”

■■: “???”

“Oh, and there's one more thing...”

■■: “One more thing????”

“No. 01 says it doesn't want to be called No. 01 anymore. It has changed its name. It now calls itself...”

■■: “Enough, shut up! I don't want to know!”

At long last, they'd made a perfect all-purpose System, and then it ran off with a cat!

Romance, one-on-one, pairing with Klein.

A heartwarming little story about Klein teaching a System what feelings are. It's also a wish-fulfillment power fantasy that lets Klein cheat his way through everything. There are lots of conversations in their heads and little of the original plot. Readers who care about canon details should proceed with caution. The original world's setting isn't treated with much reverence in order to give Klein all these advantages, though I'll try to keep things logical. In short, Klein's enjoyment comes first.

System No. 01 is an intelligent machine: expressionless, emotionless, and taciturn. It is Klein's only fan and cares about nothing but him.

The Administration and Researcher ■■ don't get much page time, but that's how the blurb ended up being written.

One more reminder: the power-ups are huge, but they're all for Klein. The main goal is to let him experience the perks of being the protagonist of a power fantasy.
