Fu Xueyin is the most socially anxious and least well-connected low-level employee in Spirit Hall. He is constantly pushed around, but never tries to network upward. His only job is to carry a crystal ball to remote villages and awaken Martial Souls.
His first stop is Holy Soul Village. Everything is perfectly ordinary: an ordinary awakening ceremony, ordinary children, an ordinary blacksmith...
No. As he passes the smithy, the drunken blacksmith burps and leans in to whisper like a devil, "You're half Soul Beast, aren't you?"
Fu Xueyin decides this cursed place has it in for him.
The blacksmith, Tang Hao, is a real menace. He places a forbidden curse on Fu Xueyin and forces him to work himself to the bone at Spirit Hall, striving for promotions and pay raises, all for the sake of his son, Tang San, until Tang San becomes a Titled Douluo and can protect himself.
The blacksmith's son, Tang San, is a menace too. With an innocent look on his face, he forces Fu Xueyin to reveal his Martial Soul so he can touch his snow leopard ears, and pesters him with questions.
Blushing furiously, Fu Xueyin is forced out of his comfort zone. Terrified, he fights tooth and nail at Spirit Hall, serving as an executive, a coach for the Spirit Hall Golden Generation, and His Holiness the Pope's secretary, before working his way up to become a Spirit Hall elder. Yet under constant pressure, he keeps helping Tang San behind the scenes, going through fire and water for him and protecting him with his life.
Tang San gradually grows closer to him, and the look in his eyes grows stranger and stranger.
At last, news arrives that Tang San has broken through to Douluo. The time has come to end his agreement with Tang Hao, and Fu Xueyin plans to finish his business, leave without a trace, and go back to taking it easy.
Instead, he is forced into the imperial robes and swept up in a crowd that makes him the Pope.
And worse, Tang San seems to have become a god.
Fu Xueyin: ...Who would take on Tang San? Me?
