Shen Du regretted insisting on going to look for his master in the middle of the night.
Red-eyed, he knelt before the white-robed immortal and rested his head against his knee. “Master, your disciple was wrong.”
The immortal fell silent for a moment, then raised a hand to stroke the crown of his head.
“Good disciple, you’re so badly injured. Of course I must go and seek medicine for you.”
The voice above him was cool and clear, like spring water striking jade. Shen Du obediently looked up and met his master’s indifferent yet gentle eyes.
Shen Du spotted the suggestive red marks hidden beneath his sleeve.
He was suddenly reminded of what he had witnessed during the night.
His usually cool eyes had been clouded with desire. His white hair trailed across the floor, and his body was smeared with filth.
The wild man on the bed had bulging veins in his arms as he gripped his slender waist tightly.
Just like now, with Shen Du clutching his master’s robe.
His master looked down at him.
So wanton.
Shen Du was so jealous he could go mad. His eyes darkened, but he wore an even more obedient smile, rubbing his face against his master’s palm. “Master, you’ll always stay by your disciple’s side, won’t you?”
Just one touch from him, and his master would be dripping wet, wouldn’t he?
At any rate, his grand formation was complete.
Next month, his master would be his.
“Of course.”
His master stroked his head like a puppy, gazing at him fondly.
“Good! Your disciple will live up to your expectations!”
“Master! Master! Du’er is still young. He was momentarily led astray. Please spare him!”
The immortal, clad in disheveled white robes, knelt before the unattainably lofty cave dwelling of a celestial. His expression was mournful, his voice raw with grief.
A sliver of heavenly light spilled from the cave. Another white-robed immortal stepped out against it, tall and straight, his face hidden in shadow, ghostly and bewitching.
“Master!”
The immortal crawled forward on his knees, looking up at the white-robed figure.
The person before him was none other than the reclusive half-step-to-ascension venerable from the cultivation world. The two immortals shared a similar bearing, as if cut from the same mold.
The celestial thundered, “Changyuan, I told you long ago that this boy must not be allowed to live! You know he’s your disciple, but do you know that you’re my disciple too?!”
“You’re allowed to worry about that vile disciple who betrayed his master, but I’m not allowed to worry about my beloved disciple, who nearly lost his life?”
The celestial was furious, and heaven and earth bowed before him.
After a long while, the immortal finally raised his trembling, slender white wrist, as delicate as if drawn in ink. With tear-filled eyes, he slowly and pleadingly took hold of the celestial’s robe.
At the sight, the celestial laughed in fury and bent down to murmur over the immortal’s head.
“I can let him live.”
“Just give me yourself in exchange, like you did that day.”
