The Heiress Keeps Picking on Me

1.

Shi Qing was brought into the Jiang family at seventeen.

In an unfamiliar place, under everyone's gaze, she nervously clutched the pale hem of her skirt, uneasy and embarrassed.

A beautiful hand took hers, and a voice as lovely as music said, "Hello! I'm Jiang Xuning."

Jiang Xuning was the Jiang family's beloved eldest daughter, top of her class and first in everything. She was gentle and considerate, without a trace of a spoiled rich girl about her.

Yet this adored girl from a privileged family patiently kept her company and helped her with her homework. When Shi Qing was bullied, the always mild-mannered young lady even lost her temper for the first time.

And in the dim light, she kissed her.

The kisses on Shi Qing's lips and neck were always cold. She was afraid, yet she sank deeper into them, trembling.

Naively, she thought it was love, until the day she finally worked up the courage to confess.

"You fall for your host when you're living under their roof? Fall for your teacher at school, your drill instructor during military training, your doctor when you're sick." Jiang Xuning lifted her chin and smiled.

The young lady's expression remained gentle, but her eyes turned cold. "Shi Qing, are you that desperate for love?"

Shi Qing finally understood that she was nothing more than a pastime for Jiang Xuning when she had nothing better to do.

Shi Qing ran without looking back.

She was desperate for love.

But she didn't want Jiang Xuning's love anymore.

Bored for a long time, Jiang Xuning got herself an entertaining pet.

Small and skinny, it always trembled when it saw her. Jiang Xuning cared for it night and day, tending to it meticulously until it finally started to look almost human.

But once it looked too human, it grew greedy and began wanting other things.

She knew how to train a dog: give it a slap, then a treat.

But before she could hand over the treat, her little pet kicked over its food bowl and ran away.
