The Moon Came Running to Me [Reborn]

1.

Sheng Mingyue took a special job: a request from a mother.

The client was a quiet, timid little girl named Yi Yao. When she looked up at Mingyue, her eyes seemed like glass veiled in mist.

Sheng Mingyue was just a nobody cosplayer who'd been to a few conventions. Her acting was awkward, but she gritted her teeth and went through the whole performance.

Four hours later, she had three thousand yuan in hand.

On the phone, she couldn't help laughing to her friend. "Easy money."

When she turned around, she saw Yi Yao, who should have already left, standing behind her.

Those eyes were still quiet. "...I forgot to say goodbye to my mom."

The little girl curled her lips into a smile and waved. "Goodbye, Mom."

*

That night, Sheng Mingyue tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

The next day, she called Yi Yao, but couldn't get through. She decided to go to her home and apologize... who knew, maybe the little girl would need to hire her again someday.

But when she arrived, a police cordon had been set up below the apartment building.

"It was a girl. What was her name again, Yi Yao? She jumped yesterday... So young. What a shame."

A buzzing sound

The world fell silent.

2.

Sheng Mingyue was not a good person. She was selfish, greedy, a swindler and a cheat, cold and unfeeling.

Reborn, Sheng Mingyue was still not a good person.

But

A little girl huddled in a corner, small and thin, her face tinged green from malnutrition. In the dead of winter, all she wore was a thin school uniform. Sheng Mingyue was silent for a long time, then held out her hand to the girl. "Come with me."

The girl's mist-veiled eyes blinked. "Who are you?"

Sheng Mingyue thought for a moment. "Your mom."

3.

Yi Yao wanted a mom.

So Sheng Mingyue came.

#Reborn, and now raising a daughter

#If you raise a kid to be a momma's girl, that's obviously the mom's fault!
