A Grade S Sentinel is about to arrive at Saint Dis Military Academy.

Song Yuxing, the Empire's strongest Sentinel, known as its sharpest blade, will train at the academy for three months, all to find the Guide with the highest compatibility and head to the front lines together.

Qi Xu stared blankly at the message that popped up on her terminal.

Her friend sensed something was up. "What, do you two have history?"

Qi Xu gave a bitter smile and said nothing.

She had raised Song Yuxing herself.

In Star Calendar Year 500, Qi Xu found Song Yuxing, who was barely bigger than a bean. The gloomy child had rejection written all over her face, but years of devoted care finally helped her become gentle and cheerful.

They were each other's only family, friend, and comrade-in-arms.

Everything changed when Song Yuxing was seventeen. The xenomorphs attacked bases across the Empire, and the two were forced apart. Song Yuxing disappeared without a trace.

Qi Xu was so badly injured that her ability fell from Grade A to Grade D. Fortunately, she received treatment in time, and under the Empire's unified arrangements, she entered Saint Dis Military Academy for training.

As Qi Xu's graduation approached, she finally learned that Song Yuxing was still alive. But when they met again, Song Yuxing had lost her memory. The cold, taciturn Sentinel before her couldn't remember all the years they'd spent together.

With a great battle looming, the Empire sent Song Yuxing to Saint Dis.

Song Yuxing instinctively rejected all Guide pheromones, until she met a Grade D Guide with 100% compatibility.

Song Yuxing treated her coldly, but her spirit animal, a white wolf, defected completely whenever it saw Qi Xu. It would rush over, wag its tail, roll over to show its belly, and nuzzle against her palm.

Song Yuxing laughed in exasperation and grabbed the white wolf by the scruff. "You're a wolf, not a dog!"

But the white wolf rolled its eyes at her, then turned around and burrowed into Qi Xu's arms again.

Why was her spirit animal acting like someone else's dog?!

After one session of mental guidance, Song Yuxing couldn't help asking, "Who are you, really?"

The other woman merely smiled gently and said, "I'm just a Grade D Guide."

Qi Xu was hiding all sorts of secrets. Song Yuxing tried to uncover them, and ended up getting in too deep herself.

At a secret meeting, Qi Xu met an important figure and learned the real reason Song Yuxing had lost her memory. Without hesitation, Qi Xu accepted the person's proposal.

The other person was surprised. "Is it worth it? You'll become a traitor to the Empire, and you might even be exiled."

"It's worth it," she said. "I'll bring her back in one piece."

After that, Qi Xu and Song Yuxing naturally became lovers. Everyone at Saint Dis had seen it coming, since Song Yuxing had been acting so strangely.

Everyone: "Hey, why are you acting like her dog too?"

Disaster struck too soon. Song Yuxing stumbled upon Qi Xu and her friend's plan.

With red-rimmed eyes, Song Yuxing demanded, "Are you a traitor?"

Qi Xu didn't defend herself. She knew full well there was no turning back.

The day Qi Xu died in front of Song Yuxing, Song Yuxing's memories collapsed along with her, leaving behind nothing but hatred carved into her bones.

For the next two years, Qi Xu struggled her way up through the xenomorph headquarters, rising from the bottom to become an administrator with extensive clearance. She thought she would never see Song Yuxing again.

Until Song Yuxing stormed the xenomorph headquarters alone and pretended to lose so she could be captured.

Qi Xu emerged from behind the xenomorphs in an enemy uniform, her manner cold and distant.

Song Yuxing stood before her, staring fixedly at the woman who had barely changed.

The eyes that had once been filled with distance and hatred now held nothing but sorrow, so close to pleading.

"Sis." Song Yuxing's voice was so hoarse it was almost inaudible. "Don't leave me alone again."
