At a friend's recommendation, Beichuan got into the immersive version of Touken Ranbu.
His friend told him it was a relaxing raising game with all kinds of characters, each with a distinct style. It was easy to raise them, with no need to grind or spend money. There was even a free dungeon leveling event going on, so it was a great time for new players to join.
Beichuan believed him.
Then the first character he got was a little snake-boned monster, clutching a short sword in its mouth and shrieking, charging wildly around the room. It looked like it had the intelligence of a rock.
Beichuan: ...?
Seriously? Is this really the starting point for raising a character?
At first, it couldn't even take human form. All it could do was howl, making it impossible to communicate with, and its combat ability was terrifyingly low.
Beichuan couldn't help but feel awe for the other players who'd managed to raise a little monster like this into the character shown in the promotional video... Still, ordinary raising games could get boring after a few days, but something this bizarre only fueled his desire to take on the challenge.
And so Beichuan began his arduous raising journey.
Kept hitting a wall on sorties? Then he'd spend money on thick blade armor and stack its stats.
Kept failing expeditions? Then he'd test things one by one, analyze the results, and find the right solution.
Having trouble making progress in events? Then he'd practice special tactics until he could win every time.
In short, there isn't a stage players can't beat, only stages they don't want to play.
But he'd already gone to such lengths, so when would the character transformation quest finally trigger?
Beichuan had no idea that there was something wrong with his citadel.
First, the characters he'd painstakingly raised didn't belong to the players' Saniwa faction. Quite the opposite: they were the Time Retrograde Army, trying to change history and standing against the players.
Second, his citadel could travel freely between the game world and the Touken Ranbu world. When he led his team out on sorties in full force to grind for experience, he didn't just leave the Saniwa and swordsmen of the Touken Ranbu world on edge. He also caught the attention of certain hidden figures.
Of course, the ones who took the brunt of it all were the players who were just trying to play normally...
What do you mean there's a fully equipped enemy team on the first floor of the dungeon?
What do you mean the enemy can randomly unleash True Sword Kill after being wounded?
What do you mean that when an enemy naginata swings at you, the other five kunai stack themselves along its blade and all pounce together... Σ(゚Д゚ )!!
Holy crap, what kind of flashy combo move is that?! If the developers have technology like this, why aren't they buffing the players instead of the enemy team?!
The players were furious.
What the heck! At this rate, we're all going to switch sides!
And the enemy Saniwa looks pretty good, so we're in! We're defecting!

[Note]
I've adjusted the blurb, and it should be closer to what this story is actually about owo
In short, it's a story about a player stumbling into the villains' faction and steamrolling everyone, both inside and outside the game.
