[Fork & Cake] [Hunting & Taming] No graphic scenes. A shit-talking rally driver gong × a navigator who takes life as it comes shou. Sweet couple romance. Only ever with each other.
Rally racing has never really caught on in China. The costs are high, the commercial value is low, and the sport is highly technical, with a small audience. Decades have passed, and it still hasn't taken off. No ads, no money. The manager was so stressed he was breaking out in cold sores. Just when he was at his wit's end...
The good news: his precious driver, Pu Xingyuan, had gone viral online.
The bad news: his demon of a driver, Pu Xingyuan, had beaten up the navigator he'd worked with for over a year. And this happened just as advertisers and money were finally coming in. The navigator stormed off, even tearing up the route notes.
Where was he supposed to find a navigator at short notice who could work with Pu Xingyuan???!
The manager's stress sores turned into ulcers. He was nearly at the point of praying to every god he could think of and crying to his parents for help. At last, he begged and borrowed, then paid through the nose to poach someone from another team.
The new navigator was called Lin Wangqiu. He looked like he had the sweetest temper. The manager worried if he was too nice, and worried if he had a bad temper, too. For their first test run together, he waited anxiously at the finish line. From a distance, he watched yellow sand billow around the car. It sat there for several minutes, and nobody got out. His heart sank, and he immediately sprinted toward it.
Before he could reach the car, the door was yanked open.
The navigator he'd paid so much to poach had a bright red face. He glared at the person inside through the window, pressed his lips together, tugged at his twisted collar, then turned and walked away.
The manager stared in bewilderment. "Uh... what?"
.
As one of the very few forks in society, Pu Xingyuan had been registered with the Special Administration Bureau from the day he presented. Because of the bloody incidents in years past, every registered fork was subject to regular check-ins. If anyone reported them and they were caught with evidence of even an attempted hunt, they could very well be sent to prison.
Pu Xingyuan never thought hunting had anything to do with him. He'd gotten used to going hungry all these years. Even if he met a cake who was his match, he had no reason to eat anyone.
Until the new navigator came and stood beside him.
His sense of taste and smell vanished in an instant. Pu Xingyuan could no longer taste any food or smell the air and sunlight. A feeling of suffocation clung to him, hazy and relentless. At that moment, when this person stood before him, he finally caught a hint of an indescribable fragrance.
His genes clamored to hunt and taste, telling him that a cake belonged on a plate. But his actions were the very opposite: tender, hungry longing.
The poor cake was kissed until he hurt, panting softly as he turned his face aside, unaware that the person before him was tasting him, as a lover and as food.
Love and appetite were never separate.
