#Everyone Gets the Wrong Idea
#I Just Want to Stay Alive, But I'm Forced to Become a Legend
#Guess I'll Just Have to Do It
Lu Ren has a deadpan face.
He transmigrates into a horror-school manga and becomes a background character with the exact same name.
A mysterious force engulfs the school, forcing students into one supernatural game level after another, where they solve puzzles, fight to survive, and get wiped out. The main cast consists of a few brilliant, high-IQ big shots. A background extra like Lu Ren, whose name was picked at random, usually gets killed within the first three pages of a level.
Lu Ren has one clear goal in life: survive.
He sits in the corner during class, hides in the restroom after class, and always stands in the back row for group activities. When the big shots solve puzzles, he looks down and picks at his nails. When monsters appear, he closes his eyes and plays dead. When everyone discusses the plot, he quietly sneaks off in the opposite direction.
Lu Ren just wants to stay alive until the school day is over.
Cafeteria level.
Starving, he scoops up the cafeteria's "signature dish": chicken from the free soup.
The monster cafeteria lady beams at him. "Is that enough, sweetheart?"
Library level.
Afraid of something jumping out at him, he quietly turns his back to the mirror.
The ghost in the mirror pauses. "Huh?"
Then she starts combing his hair and pins a pink barrette into it.
Equipment room level.
Lu Ren quietly opens a pack of spicy strips in the corner.
A basketball with a human face rolls over with a rumble, opens its mouth, and waits to be fed.
Lu Ren: "?"
Lu Ren thinks he's doing an excellent job of staying alive, but he doesn't know that...
The big shots have been watching him for three whole levels, captivated by his naturally expressionless face and the calm figure that always stays apart from the crowd.
Main cast member number one: "Look at his expression. He's not afraid of ghosts at all."
Main cast member number two: "How can anyone know the rules this well?"
Main cast member number three: "I get it! He's taming ghosts. Terrifying!"
Everyone suddenly understands: A living legend!
Please take us with you!!!
From that day on, Lu Ren finds four tagalongs hanging around him.
He goes to the restroom, turns around, and sees four heads quickly disappearing behind the door.
He goes to the school shop, turns around, and sees four people pretending to study the recipe for spicy strips.
Lu Ren, still deadpan: "If you have something to say, say it."
What he really means is: What could a nobody like me possibly do for the main cast? And if possible, don't come to me with anything. I'm good at ruining everything.
But when he finishes saying those four ordinary words, the main cast stare at one another with wide eyes and nod excitedly.
That's the aura of a big shot! That's right, a big shot should be aloof and above it all!
"What's wrong with a big shot having a temper? That's normal."
"The big shot doesn't join in discussions about the plot? Normal. These little ghosts don't need Lu Shen to lift a finger. We can handle them ourselves."
"The big shot fainted when something jumped out at him? Ha, nonsense. He was clearly sleeping."
Lu Ren inexplicably becomes a legend throughout the school and is pushed into the position of chairman.
Afraid the main cast will see through his ordinary background-extra nature and turn on him, sacrificing him to the ghosts, Lu Ren starts putting on an act. When the four members of the main cast finish seriously discussing the plot and look at him with wide, expectant eyes, asking for his guidance...
"..." Lu Ren pretends to be profound. "A, what do you think?"
A rattles off a plan.
Lu Ren silently nods. "That's right."
Great!
