The Outsider in a Love Polygon

Shen Guan transmigrated into a wealthy-family novel full of tangled relationships. Its six male leads, A, B, C, D, E, and F, were each strikingly handsome and far more impressive than the protagonists of most novels.

But their tangled relationships made readers cry, "What a mess this circle is!"

A is the story's central figure. Because he bears some resemblance to C, B's unattainable first love, B chooses him to be the wife in his marriage of convenience, a wife in name only.

Soon, A discovers that B's stepmother F is his own ex, that B's father D falls in love with C at first sight, and that E, B's malicious childhood friend who is obsessed with him, starts stirring up trouble.

Then B and A embark on a tortured romance, D pursues C after getting divorced, A and C discover they were switched at birth, and E and F are drugged and caught in bed...

In just 300,000 words, the six male leads manage to cram in a marriage of convenience, a fake relationship turning real, stepmother romance, fake and real young masters, father and son turning against each other, a first-love stand-in, a desperate chase after a wife, amnesia after a car crash, and all kinds of other melodramatic tropes!

But none of this has anything to do with Shen Guan.

After transmigrating, Shen Guan is merely a passerby who happens to know A, B, C, D, E, and F, a complete outsider. All he does every day is lie flat and watch the drama.

But perhaps because he looks and acts like a gentle, domestic spouse, and can get along with just about anyone, the male leads, busy acting out all kinds of messy, clichéd plots, gradually grow closer to him and treat him as their mutual best friend.

From then on, Shen Guan spends one day listening to one person vent, the next being interrogated by another, and the day after covering for someone else. He's also forced to take sides, play the third wheel, and become an expert relationship analyst. His life is absolutely miserable.

After ending up in the wrong with everyone for the Nth time, Shen Guan decides he's had enough. Whoever wants this thankless job can have it!

He's going abroad! Far away! He'll never see those six lunatics again!

But the moment he leaves, all the male leads come chasing after him.

Looking at their fervent, yearning eyes, as if they want to swallow him whole, Shen Guan finally realizes that at some point, the tangled relationships between multiple people have turned into everyone's obsession with the same person.

He's become a treasure the rabid dogs all want to fight over.
