In stories where the protagonist changes love interests, the ex is just a disposable character, a tool to bring the main couple closer.
But what happens when Xue Mo becomes one of those doomed exes destined to fade from the story?
The protagonist begs me not to break off the engagement, so I have a brilliant idea and tell him our attributes clash. But he says he can be the top for love?
The official love interest sneaks around causing trouble. His ultimate goal is to knock the protagonist aside and successfully take his place.
And all the villains, side characters, and random passersby have started looking at me strangely.
Part 1: The Ex-Fiancé Dumped by the Fake and Real Young Masters
As the son of a nouveau riche family, Xue Mo can throw his weight around at the elite academy thanks to the favor owed to his grandparents, which led to his engagement to the son of the richest man in the capital.
Naturally, the rich man's son looks down on Xue Mo and has always treated him with icy coldness. Xue Mo dreams of becoming another member of the rich family, and even though he's looked down on, he still goes out of his way to curry favor with the rich man's son. He's completely different from the arrogant way he treats everyone else, and this two-faced behavior makes the people around him despise him.
Xue Mo doesn't care and carries on as he pleases. Then, out of nowhere, the secret that a nurse had switched two babies at birth comes to light. The rich man's son turns out to be the fake, while the real young master is the ordinary student on scholarship at the academy whom Xue Mo has been bullying all along.
The fake young master isn't sad about losing his status. Instead, he secretly rejoices that, since he's not the rich man's biological son, he can end his engagement to Xue Mo. Meanwhile, the real young master, who gets engaged to Xue Mo in his place, hates him because of the bullying he endured at the academy. He treats Xue Mo even worse than the fake young master ever did.
What makes Xue Mo's fate even crueler is that the fake and real young masters are destined to become a couple in the story. Once they finally realize their feelings for each other, Xue Mo will once again face the awkward prospect of being dumped.
Being dumped twice by two people who then get together is an enormous humiliation for Xue Mo. He becomes a laughingstock, and his family's business, targeted by enemies he'd made through his past arrogance, rapidly declines until it finally goes bankrupt.
After transmigrating into the story, Xue Mo follows the plot and plays the role of the universally hated clown who makes a scene all over the elite academy. But when the identities of the fake and real young masters are revealed, those who were supposed to mock him for going to such lengths to bind himself to a fake young master, only to offend the real one without meaning to, all show excitement instead.
The icy top student, the sweet junior, the gentle senior, the hot-tempered athlete, the scheming twins, the refined student council president... A whole crowd insists that the fake young master has inferior blood, the real young master doesn't know what's good for him, and neither is a good match for Xue Mo. Only they are truly suited to him.
Meanwhile, the fake and real young masters, who were originally meant to become lovers, refuse to follow the script. The fake young master refuses to break off his engagement to Xue Mo, while the real young master insists the engagement should belong to him. The two end up fighting, beating each other bloody.
Part 2: The Sickly Moonlight Ex-Fiancé of the Beloved
Everyone loves the beloved, but the beloved's heart belongs only to his sickly moonlight, Xue Mo.
The beloved's many admirers, including the official love interest, follow him to the hospital, eager to see what the much-talked-about Xue Mo is really like.
The door opens gently, revealing a slender figure. The young man has a cool, distant bearing and skin pale with illness. The light spills over him like silver frost, cloaking him in a quiet, dreamlike glow. All the splendor and brilliance in the world cannot compare to the heart-stopping sight of his thick lashes lifting as he looks their way.
The moonlight. The moonlight.
So this is what he looks like.
No wonder he's haunted their thoughts so.
