On freshman registration day at Beicheng University, history prodigy Gu Shian set the campus forums ablaze with his cool, handsome face, “licensed to practice,” and his legendary near-perfect score in the history portion of the college entrance exam.
Meanwhile, Lin Shu was killing time in the journalism department line, taking photos. She accidentally went viral after snapping a candid side-profile shot of him, and was forced to “make a name for herself overnight.”
In the photo, the usually aloof top student seemed to give her a faint, blurry smile that might have been tender.
The forums exploded, and a fan club for the pairing sprang up on the spot.
Lin Shu panicked and swore, holding up her student ID: “It was purely a coincidence! I really don't know him!”
Until one day, in class.
When the teacher called on her to answer a history question, her fingers trembled slightly.
Out of sight, a long, jade-like hand, the winner of countless first prizes, suddenly covered the back of hers. Steady and warm.
His cool breath brushed her ear, and his low voice was meant for her alone:
“What's with the shaking?”
“Weren't you licensed to practice?” He paused, then added the rest with pointed significance:
“My rumored girlfriend.”
