Why Hasn't My Wife Come Home for the Ghost Festival?

[Blurb to be revised, many details still need work. Mu Zhaoling's story from “Halloween”] [A true fake death]

On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, the gates of hell open. The Ghost Festival arrives, and the spirits return home.

To welcome his dead wife home, the man made a great many preparations. But he waited from morning until night, and his wife's spirit never returned.

So the man, though only a mortal, calmly set off for the underworld to find his wife.

-

The good news: He found his wife in hell.

The bad news: His wife was actually an underworld civil servant, and the three years she spent married to him were just a vacation in the mortal realm.

His wife took her own life and died because it was time for her to go back to work.

-

Their love runs deep, but fate is against them. In every lifetime, they miss each other in a fleeting moment. But this time is different.

He thought that as long as he could find him, he didn't mind going to hell.

-

The pursuer, who goes to hell in the flesh just to see his dead wife VS the pursued, who faked his death because he thought his husband didn't love him (when in fact his husband would have loved nothing more than to imprison him)

Young, stern 1 VS beautiful ghost 0

A considerable age gap, with the pursuer younger
