Prisoner of the Laurel Crown

Vera marries the heir to Laurel Manor. Her husband is in poor health, but the two of them are deeply in love.

Three months into their marriage, her frail husband goes to meet his maker.

For the sake of their own interests, her family and her husband’s family agree that his twin brother will inherit his fortune and… his widow.

Vera sits by the fireplace and listens as they pronounce her fate.

She looks up and meets the cold, hateful eyes behind the carved screen.

She has heard he loves someone else and only married her to inherit the fortune. Vera is relieved. She still hasn’t gotten over her late husband, either.

But that night, her new husband, who despises her, pulls back the covers. In her shock, Vera truly becomes another man’s wife.

He is like a beast.

The more she resists, the wilder he becomes.

Only then does she learn that Chris hates her late husband to the core.

She thinks it is nothing but pure revenge, until, later

The blond, blue-eyed man bites her neck and asks hoarsely, “Darling, do you love me more, or him?”

She lies on her back on the floor, trembling with fury.

He bends over her, his cold fingers gliding across her slightly rounded belly.

“My poor little darling, tell me: if chains can’t bind your soul, could the umbilical cord?”

“Or the blood and bones of the person you love?”

She swears she will never be tamed.

He swears he will never let her go.

Twins are seen as an ill omen.

As a result, Chris was imprisoned and tortured, while his twin brother had everything.

He resents the brother fate favored, and by extension, his widow.

At first, he deliberately humiliates her.

But he never expected to become obsessed with this young widow and fall in love with her amid all his malicious humiliations.

She cries out, curses, and bites.

He goes mad, becomes obsessed, and loves every minute of it.
