A Guide to Failing at Love

Xie Heng is an evil ghost who has wandered for a thousand years. One day, he wakes up to find himself forcibly placed in the body of someone who has died.

But soon, he'll be dead too. As a ghost from a thousand years ago, Xie Heng has no money or abilities, and half of this body's face is covered in birthmarks.

...Xie Heng can't stand how ugly it is.

Xie Heng doesn't die. A saintly man takes him home.

The man is beautiful, refined and elegant, with a face so exquisitely handsome it seems familiar.

He wants to eat him.

A hunger unlike any he'd felt in a thousand years wells up in Xie Heng. He bites Pei Zhaoyuan's wrist, and warm blood slides down his throat.

Pei Zhaoyuan's voice comes from above him. "Does it taste good? I want some too."

What a freak. He gets bitten and doesn't even react.

Xie Heng guards his food. "Not a chance."

Pei Zhaoyuan thinks he's taken in a pitiful little oddball with a strange appetite: short, skinny, ugly, and fond of drinking his blood.

If the little oddball didn't drink only his blood, Pei Zhaoyuan would have thrown him out long ago.

One day, Pei Zhaoyuan is ambushed while out and is about to die. Somehow, the little oddball has followed him.

Pei Zhaoyuan is covered in blood, as if dressed in wedding red.

He says, "You can open an all-you-can-eat buffet now."

The little oddball glances at him, then dies first. A refined, long-haired handsome ghost emerges from his body.

The handsome ghost casually tears off a piece of his body and puts it in Pei Zhaoyuan's mouth, soothing him: "It's fine. This is a spirit body, not real flesh."

Pei Zhaoyuan takes a couple of bites. "It doesn't taste good."

The handsome man snorts. "It may taste bad, but it's not free."

The male ghost licks his lips. "You ate it, so now you're mine."

Later, Xie Heng realizes that this appetite isn't that kind of "appetite." He wants to eat Pei Zhaoyuan in every sense of the word.

Of course, as compensation, he'll give Pei Zhaoyuan his spirit body.

An equal exchange.

2. Narcissistic romance: the gong and shou look about seventy percent alike
