The immortal asks her to offer a stick of incense, and she does. Watching with amusement as the immortal absorbs the incense, Mu Nanyan smiles and asks, “Well, my little immortal, is it to your liking?” Meng Shu is very pleased with Mu Nanyan’s offerings. As her sole worshipper, Meng Shu ought to grant her wishes, though Mu Nanyan’s wishes grow stranger and stranger. She says, “I’m going to die without ever having married. It’s such a shame.” So Meng Shu performs a wedding ceremony with her and gives her a wedding. She says, “I don’t have much time left, and I’ve never experienced the pleasures of married life. It’s such a shame.” So Meng Shu lets her have her way for once. Their feelings are like a floodgate giving way. The more they indulge, the more it becomes a habit, until time abruptly hits pause. Mu Nanyan returns to the earth, while Meng Shu is left alone, keeping watch over a pile of lingering incense offerings. Their karmic ties are too strong and hinder Meng Shu’s cultivation. She wants to sever them, and spends three years doing so, while also spending three years remembering her deceased wife. Then a celestial invitation suddenly arrives, celebrating the Divine Lord’s return to her throne three days earlier. Meng Shu doesn’t think a low-ranking immortal like her has any right to attend such a grand banquet, but for the sake of broadening her horizons, she goes anyway. And there she sees Mu Nanyan as she once was, now the Exalted Lady Yujin. It turns out she was the one undergoing tribulation. But after casting off all attachments, the Divine Lord seems to have let go of the past. The god on the high dais barely glances at Meng Shu. Meng Shu drinks the bitter wine of the celestial realm and gets herself drunk on the past. Yujin carries the drunken Meng Shu back to her divine palace and sighs. “How can you handle wine this rich in spiritual energy, my little immortal?” Character profiles: 【Mu Nanyan, top】: Shameless, competitive, and relentless, always the same. She’s calculating in public, but with her wife she turns into “I’m just a sweet baby who’s lucky enough to be spoiled.” 【Meng Shu, bottom】: A god who’s slow to recognize her feelings but softhearted. She grants her believer’s wishes and fulfills her own heart’s desire, too. Together, they’re like: Can we make things a little more adventurous? A little more adventurous still… Reading guide: No chase-your-wife-to-the-crematorium plot. A sweet little romance, short, around 100,000 characters. Character profiles: Xiao Yuan, top: A mad Grand Princess with power over the court, beautiful, strong, and tragically doomed, with the soul of a gloomy female ghost possessing her. Every man who comes within a yard of my wife must die. Jiang Lingzhi, bottom: The long-suffering legitimate daughter of the Jiang clan. She appears to be a frail consort selected for the tyrant’s harem, but in truth she’s an expert at training birds. Note: Because of her background, the top is not a virgin. The bottom is. Please consider carefully if you require both characters to be virgins. This is a fictional historical setting, though it draws inspiration from the Southern Dynasties. Please don’t assume it follows history exactly; it’s different. This is also a sweet romance, with a little chase-your-wife drama, but both are easy to win over. One-on-one pairing.
