An ordinary office worker unexpectedly transmigrates onto an insect-clan battlefield and is sent to the palace as a low-ranking male insect. After several days of being on edge, he discovers that the pay and benefits are great, and decides to quietly lie flat.

The only unusual thing is that a certain masked insect-clan guard keeps hanging around him. Looking at the man’s handsome, faintly melancholy eyes and terrifying bone mask, Lanna imagines all sorts of tragic backstories for him and can’t help taking extra care of him.

They say the Insect Emperor usurped the throne after murdering his elder brother, and is cruel and bloodthirsty. The guard, Kainas, is in charge of cleaning up the blood and such. One late night, Lanna brings Kainas a bunch of little red flowers, only to find him dragging a corpse.

He hands over the flowers, then helps dispose of the assassin’s body. As they work, he grumbles, “The emperor has absolutely no public decency. Making you work in the middle of the night! Couldn’t he deal with this tomorrow?”

Kainas, standing beside him with the flowers, nods. “Exactly.”

Once they finish cleaning up, Lanna turns around and sees the masked beauty lowering his head to sniff the flowers. The words slip out before he can stop himself: “When I’ve saved enough money, how about we leave the palace together?”

A cold tail hook coils around Lanna Shuta’s waist. Kainas’s voice follows: “All right.”

After that, the unlucky office worker keeps helping the guard clean up while grumbling about the insect-clan emperor’s murderous ways. Every time, the guard’s cool voice agrees with him: “Yes, the emperor is awful.”

Later, when the rebels attack and the guard isn’t by his side, Lanna panics and pushes open a side door to the grand hall. What he sees is the tail hook he once touched piercing the rebel leader’s heart. A mass of troops kneel on the ground, shouting in unison, “Your Majesty!”

Lanna Shuta’s mind goes blank. Kainas, standing in a pool of blood, slowly raises his head and meets Lanna’s shocked gaze. He gives him a slight wink…

It has long been one of history’s great unsolved mysteries: How did the empire’s most ruthless Insect Emperor fall in love with a captured F-rank male insect? How did he seduce His Majesty into taking the throne? The insects are baffled.

After that beloved died, Gloria made a deal with an evil god: a life for a life, blood for blood. By sacrificing someone related by blood who looks like his beloved, he could bring him back to life.

Only then does Vilois learn that he is the long-lost twin brother of the beloved.

And the perfect sacrifice to resurrect the person Gloria loves.

Suddenly, a pair of large hands settle on his waist. Gloria’s cool voice sounds behind him.

“So you’ve seen it.”

His cool boss kisses the tip of his ear, just as he has on countless nights before. “Can you help me, Vilois?”

He met his spouse, Vilois, through matchmaking. Gloria strictly followed the steps in the guide to courting male and female insects. They met on the first day, held hands and kissed on the second, then tried getting into bed on the third.

They were perfectly in sync at every step. On the fifth day, Gloria proposed to Vilois, and less than a year after their wedding, they had an insect baby.

But one day, as Vilois was preparing for a promotion, his mental powers ran wild and his mind was on the brink of collapse. To save his male spouse from his strange and unpredictable mental world, Gloria travels into Vilois’s mind and begins acting out the roles in the angsty romance plots his spouse has watched.

Mission objective: Make Vilois’s heartbreak reach one hundred percent so that he wakes up in the illusory world.
