They say the Insect Emperor seized the throne by murdering his elder brother, and is exceptionally cruel and bloodthirsty. The guard Kaines is in charge of cleaning up the blood and such. One night, Lannaxiuta brings Kaines a bunch of little red flowers, only to find him dragging a corpse.

He hands him the flowers, then pitches in to dispose of the assassin's body. As they work, he grumbles, "The Emperor has no consideration for anyone. Making you work in the middle of the night! Couldn't this wait until tomorrow?"

Kaines, holding the flowers beside him, nods. "Exactly."

When they finish cleaning up, Lannaxiuta turns around and sees the masked beauty lowering his head to smell the flowers. The words slip out before he can stop himself: "When I've saved enough money, how about we leave the palace together?"

A cold tail barb coils around Lannaxiuta's waist. Kaines's voice replies, "All right."

After that, the unfortunate office worker keeps helping the guard clean up, all the while cursing out the murderous Insect Emperor. Every time, the guard's cool voice agrees with him: "Yes, the Emperor is awful."

Later, when the rebels attack and the guard isn't by his side, Lannaxiuta panics and pushes open a side door to the great hall. What he sees is the tail barb he once caressed piercing the rebel leader's heart. A sea of dark-armored soldiers kneels on the ground, shouting in unison, "Your Majesty!"

Lannaxiuta's mind goes blank. Kaines, standing in a pool of blood, slowly raises his head, meets his shocked gaze, and gently blinks...

An unsolved mystery throughout history: how did the Empire's most ruthless Insect Emperor fall in love with a captured F-rank male bug? How did he seduce His Majesty the Emperor into taking the throne? The bugs can't make sense of it.
