[Brave and resilient female surgeon Chen Xi x gentle and solitary male internist Yang Wang]
It was another noon after a night shift that had not yet ended, and Chen Xi was taking a patient to have a puncture performed. On the way, a doctor jumped from a building and died, covered in blood, right before her eyes.
Before she could even react, a deranged patient stabbed her, the white blade going in and the red blade coming out.
When Chen Xi opened her eyes again, she was standing in the stairwell of the inpatient department... but there was neither an entrance nor an exit here.
"You had to die to come here, little doctor."
An old attending physician in a rumpled white coat said this to her.
She also saw him, the doctor Yang Wang, whom she had once encountered during a consultation.
"You died too?"
"I think so."
The door of the stairwell opened at irregular intervals, leading to another world, a white tower
-
She stepped through the door that had just appeared in the stairwell.
A blinding light greeted her, as if it came from heaven, or perhaps hell...
When her vision returned,
she and he were standing in the doctor's office of the respiratory medicine department.
A senior colleague secretly told them:
"Here, entering the wrong medical order means death."
-
"It's over. This medical order is wrong."
Before Yang Wang had even finished speaking, blood burst from his heart.
"Yang Wang!"
Chen Xi's hand trembled, and the examination form fell from her grasp. A sharp pain struck her heart.
She died too.
-
"What do we do? We've returned here again."
"It's all right. We're together. That's all that matters."
-
Death haunted every corner of the white tower
from the lifeless hospice ward to the obstetrics department welcoming new life;
from the anatomy museum filled with the smell of formalin to the library where pages turned quietly;
from the strictly businesslike personnel department to the complaints office where arguments raged without end...
...as long as you died, you would return to that stairwell.
[Medical Records Room Instance] Here, you die if an error is found in a medical record.
[Medical School Instance] Here, you die if you fail an examination.
[Complaints Office Instance] Here, you die if a patient files a complaint against you.
-
"No, you'll die." Chen Xi took Yang Wang's hand and shook her head.
She met his gaze, then slowly continued, "I will die with you."
Yang Wang held her tightly and gently stroked her back.
"I won't die... Chen Xi, you can't die either."
-
"The quiz begins now, "
A mechanical female voice, devoid of warmth, rang out from somewhere.
"What quiz?" Chen Xi frowned at Yang Wang, who also shook his head in confusion.
"Quiz question: Where is the director?"
"Catch the director inside the hospital within thirty minutes."
"What does that mean?"
The mechanical voice continued impassively: "If the game succeeds, the instance difficulty will remain unchanged. If the game fails, the instance difficulty will double."
"This System finally shows up for once, and instead of helping us, it wants to test us too!"
"Players, the thirty-minute countdown begins. The game starts, "
-
In this blood-soaked white tower,
they ran hand in hand and embraced tightly, tears filling their eyes.
"I love you. Please, stay alive."

[A character-driven infinite-flow story about doctors, medical students, and healthcare workers]
In every medical instance, every doctor, medical student, and healthcare worker strives to let more people stay alive.
[Author's Note]
1. Romance between the leads: both are pure, each other's first love, and devoted to one another. Their relationship is a process of growing together and moving toward each other, and is also an important part of the story.
2. Some readers have said that the story looks rather painful and oppressive.
Choosing a medical subject was actually a coincidence.
It was because I saw that our medical community faced many shared difficulties and had many places where people needed to speak out, so I chose a medical subject.
I am like a witness and participant, writing down what I have seen and what I wish to express. That was my original intention.
The parts based on reality may seem particularly realistic and depressing, but I sincerely hope that all of us caught in the whirlpool can live well and happily.
If you feel unhappy, please run away and leave at once! Only by staying alive can there be hope. I hope everyone can live happily.
If you happened to click into my novel, it is like a good friend dropping by for a chat. You do not necessarily have to follow every update. Being able to come even once is my good fortune, and I am very glad to meet everyone here.
I also hope that through this novel, more people will see our medical community. Even while struggling bitterly in reality, we healthcare workers still shine. This too is something I have seen and witnessed with my own eyes.
I am very glad to meet everyone here. A single encounter is fate, and if I am fortunate enough to accompany you for part of the journey, that must be a blessing earned through a hundred lifetimes.
Thank you to everyone who has sent tips, supported, commented, reported errors, and read this story. I am very happy that you have shared this stretch of time with me.
Thank you for meeting me. I look forward to meeting again. Thank you!
[Even if life is like this, love and hope will remain our unchanging themes.]
Theme: Hope, gazing toward the dawn.
I'd like to order them all first. The medical students I know write articles excitedly and then disappear. Be sure to finish the book... Or I will write you into the next book.
It shocked me that OAO is a children's cult!
Oh my god, today's chapter is too scary. The author's inspiration couldn't be from the recent news, right?
Life lasts only a hundred years, happiness is the most important thing. If you have something you want to do, that's fine:) Come on, author!
Oh my god, I just watched a horror movie and this chapter is so exciting. Come on, author.
Alas, recently there has been news about missed diagnoses and sentencing. I feel really sad when I see this.
