The Nile, the Everlasting Red Sun

[Sister story to "London Is Thinking of Me Too," now complete]

[Adventurous female geography photographer x calm male investment banker]

Liu Qi has only ever been stood up twice in his life.

The first time, his bride disappeared without a word on their wedding day.

The second time, his wife ran away during their honeymoon.

Both times, it was Zang Lin. She's the only one who would stand him up.

When Liu Qi landed in Cairo, where was Zang Lin?

They had been married for three years and had hardly ever seen each other. This time, he had flown from London to Cairo to make up for their missed honeymoon.

The usually level-headed Liu Qi lost his composure.

Fine, Zang Lin. Just wait until I find you. I really need to ask why you've left your husband alone for three years.

But by the Nile, Zang Lin told him, "Liu Qi, let's get divorced after we leave Egypt."

There's an ancient Egyptian proverb: Anyone who has drunk from the Nile will return to Egypt, no matter how far away they go.

Ramses II once said, "Nile, my mother, I drank this water of life with her, and vowed that even when we meet again, I will not forget my past life..."

Reading guide:
