No romance, no official couples. The protagonist is entirely focused on his career. Plot-driven. Villain protagonist.
I’ll try to update daily. If I don’t, I’m still up in the sky.
Ordinary people struggle to make ends meet, while nobles wage war against one another for power. Yet even at the pinnacle of power, a wizard apprentice can still destroy a kingdom with ease.
A wizard apprentice, however, is at the very bottom of the wizarding world.
The strong prey on the weak. It is the only rule in this world.
Until Hua Si arrived.
He loathes this world, understands it, becomes part of it, and then takes control of it…
In a world shrouded in darkness, he is the flower of ultimate evil.
He transmigrates into a hopeless situation from the start. Black magic experiments have left him frail, so at first he presents himself as humble and pitiful. After enduring endless bullying, it’s only reasonable for his heart to become a little twisted, isn’t it?
After awakening his succubus bloodline, he has a clear understanding of his own allure and makes use of it. That’s reasonable too, isn’t it?
Relying on patience, ruthlessness, and a willingness to do whatever it takes, he climbs over the bloodied bodies of others, hoping to control everything through absolute power… That’s still reasonable, isn’t it?
“Everyone says wizards pursue truth, but why is it that all I see are devotees of power?”
“I want to stand at the summit of truth and pluck the stars. I want to study the mysteries of space and time and trace causality. I want to understand the flow of magic and the essence of the material world…”
Many years later, the great Arcane Emperor, reformer, pioneer, Lord of the Abyss, and Saint of Life said in disappointment as he faced the rivals of his youth.
By then, under his rule, the wizarding world had become an entirely different place.
Wizards could no longer kill at will. Schools had been built, along with a complete education system… In a chaotic, lightless world, a spark called peace had finally appeared.
Because this was his pasture.
Content warnings:
The early and middle parts are pure dark fantasy, where the strong prey on the weak. The later parts only put on a superficial show of it, taking a “White Demon King” approach, but the essence stays the same.
This isn’t traditional Western fantasy. Only wizards, including sorcerers, and magical creatures wield supernatural power. Perhaps it would be more accurate to call it a wizard story?
Nor is this a traditional succubus story. He’s an overachiever, an unkillable cockroach, and an ambitious schemer.
(The protagonist remains a sorcerer with succubus blood throughout. He won’t become a full succubus, so he doesn’t need to eat anything weird to survive.)
Finally: Everyone is evil! Everyone is evil! Everyone is evil!
This is genuinely dark fantasy. The protagonist’s values don’t represent the author’s, only the author’s personal tastes.
The anti-piracy paywall is at 50 percent. Bonus chapters after the finale are at 60 percent.
(The rate will drop after the novel has been completed for a while.)
Please check out my upcoming novel, “Near Death, Yet Hunting Evil Gods”
A bizarre, short-tempered monster with an unusual way of thinking, top × a frail but capable, fun-loving investigator, bottom
(Content warning: The top is a TV-headed person for most of the story. The bottom has 0.5 HP and albinism.)
P.S. I personally don’t consider this one a dark fantasy story. The world is extremely cruel, but most people act for the sake of humanity’s survival. The protagonist suffers quite a bit. (I lied: everyone suffers. But the protagonist is pretty charming too, otherwise he wouldn’t survive.)
“Earth players, are you ready? The Infinite Horror Game is about to launch!”
At the notification in his head, Bai Ming stopped what he was doing and looked utterly bewildered.
He didn’t know whether the players on Earth were ready, but there was one problem: he’d transmigrated twenty years ago!
He wasn’t even from Earth anymore!
And besides… it seemed that the game was being played in the very world where he lived.
A hundred years after a nuclear war, nuclear contamination had given rise to countless bizarre monsters. Humanity had retreated into nine Black Towers, and after years of fighting the uncanny, people had developed a system for dealing with it.
A small number of people awakened supernatural abilities. They could venture outside for short periods to search for supplies and information from before the apocalypse, and even absorb the crystals left behind when the uncanny died to strengthen their abilities.
At the same time, he gained two new abilities.
His original ability was [Thousand Threads]. Basically, he could control his own hair to attack and defend. Among the many ability users in the Black Towers, it wasn’t particularly powerful.
His new abilities were [Blood Lock] and [Comeback at Critical Health].
In short, he could set his own HP, and the lower it was, the stronger he became.
Bai Ming thought for a second, then locked his HP at 0.5.
The stronger your abilities, the better.
But… wait, why can’t he change it once it’s set?!
A legend arose in the world of the Black Towers: someone in the Paranormal Investigation Group could clear out the uncanny with terrifying efficiency while coughing up blood, and reaped plenty of rewards despite constantly taking on missions.
A legend also arose on Earth: a player whose identity was unknown displayed astonishing combat prowess in the dungeons, charging straight to the front despite being gravely wounded.
Bai Ming: “Help me up. I can still fight!”
At his feet, a shadow stretched out and slowly took human form.
Bai Ming brought his blade down, and the monster’s head fell.
The head hit the ground and laughed. It rolled to Bai Ming’s feet, then with a pop turned into a giant rose.
A creature that could neither be seen nor heard had recently developed a new hobby.
It was a human, a frail, insignificant human… How strange. Why would it like such a weak creature?
Wait, did he just look at me?
Wait, did he just touch me?
Why… hasn’t he gone mad?!
The monster rubbed its head, completely baffled.
Then it would go find that human.
But why… would a human… kill it?
Its body was pierced.
Its head was cut off.
Its blood ran dry.
It didn’t matter. The monster was going to follow its human.
Please note: During the early and middle parts, both the top and bottom genuinely want to kill each other. The top wants to kill the bottom because only the dead can become an Evil God’s priest, but the bottom’s blood lock makes him impossible to kill. The bottom sees the top as a monster, and an investigator’s job is to kill monsters. They truly are lovers who try to kill each other.
The values in this novel are shaped by its post-apocalyptic setting. Please don’t apply them to real life.
