The Dog Trainer Dies on a Rainy Night in Youkexin

Kurapika would always remember the first thing Squala said to him.

He said, "You seem to really like dogs."

Squala had no drive, always hunched over and looking listless, and he was always sneaking glances at Arisa.

He hardly seemed like a bodyguard for the mafia. He had no grand ambitions and no desire to save the world. All he wanted was to finish this job in Yorknew, quit, and go home to marry Arisa, then raise their dog together.

And then he died.

He died on a rainy night, at the hands of the Spiders.

Much later, when Kurapika walked into that pet shop alone and bought the dog with heart disease, he finally realized he might not have paid any attention to Squala's small talk back then.

If, I mean if, he could do it all over again, he would definitely answer:

Squala: "You seem to really like dogs."

Kurapika: "Yeah. I really do."
