After I Was Ordered to Marry My Ex

Gu Wan and Xue Shaoye once had a thing.

Back then, she was a down-on-her-luck embroiderer, and he was a scholar who had the title of young master but none of the privileges.

When someone urged Gu Wan to marry the butcher across the street, she gave a sidelong glance toward Xue Shaoye, who was writing a letter for someone.

Using youthful infatuation as her excuse, she clung to the refined, aloof scholar, hoping to capitalize on his uncertain prospects. She dreamed that one day she could put down her needle and thread and become a government official's wife who never had to lift a finger.

Unfortunately, Xue Shaoye was a block of wood that no amount of warming could soften. In the end, Gu Wan began to have second thoughts.

As it happened, a matron from the Duke's manor came calling. She said Gu Wan was actually the duke's daughter.

Gu Wan briskly said her goodbyes to Xue Shaoye.

She turned away too quickly to hear his quiet “A Wan,” and never knew he was clutching a hairpin he had wanted to tuck into her hair.

In her third year back at the Duke's manor, Gu Wan received an imperial decree arranging her marriage to the newly crowned top scholar.

That scholar's name was none other than...

Xue Shaoye.

“You will always be better than anyone else.”

1. A resilient beauty who only wants a better life x a scholar who only wants the one he loves to have her wish. Neither lead is perfect. I want to try writing something new for me, www.

2. A mix of bittersweet and sweet.

3. 1v1, both leads' first and only, emotionally and physically.

4. The blurb may change before the story begins, but the premise won't.

Theme: Love is just love.
